Confident England
by Prashanth DSouza on Sep 04, 2013 08:19 AM

A resurgent England team has made it's board a lot more aggressive. England has always played cricket with a political mind set, amply demonstrated in the Ashes series with Australia.

Calling India to England and thrashing them in front of the home crowd will do a lot of good for their political ambitions and they will try to make an example of India.

If the Indian team can keep this in mind and play for pride and glory, it will be a series to remember. Of course, if they just go to the matches like lambs without any previous history education, they will be slaughtered like lambs usually are.

The need of the hour is to use these tests to channelize the aggression of the Indian youth into something tangible and at the same time, revel in the spirit of fair play and fun.

I haven't seen the BCCI understand this aspect though Gavaskar has always hinted about the seriousness of tests. We need an Australia 2001 test series moment again for test cricket and for Indian pride and confidence. For those who remember how Dravid and Laxman fought off the Aussies and showed the cricketing world that India could deliver outside of their home turf as well.

that bcci is more interested in test matches and they want to see india no 1 in test format more ....thats why they also gave preference to playing tests with teams like australia england and south africa when india became no 1 ranking test team...

LAst series white wash
by Srivatsan S on Sep 03, 2013 11:56 AM  | Hide replies

The reason for last series white was due to poor performance by Shewag and Gambhir and later Shewag played his ego against Dhoni. Sachin poor form. Zaheer khan injury and Bhajji faked as injured knowing he is totally out of form. the Other pace bowlers lacked experience and unable to get wickets.
But for all Dhoni was blamed...

in fact the ongoing joke at the time was is this a national cricket team or a national handicapped players cricket team?

and unfortunately dhoni was blamed unfairly...

if your players are breaking down left right and centre one after another even when the match is going on there is not much any captain can do...

England has a great opportunity for 5-0 whitewash in the Test series which they missed against Australia.
