Lopsided contest
by better thanyourx on Nov 01, 2013 11:41 AM

I concur with MS. The healthy contest that existed between bat and ball has eroded a lot with the modern formats heavily stacked in favour of the batsmen. Dhoni is spot on when he says it's not good for the game when bowlers keep getting clobbered to all corners match after man. Slowly the contest between bat and ball is getting killed. The old timers recall those contests between Sunil Gavaskar wearing just a skull scap scoring centuries against the fearsome West Indian pace battery spitting venom on the pitch.

Disagree with Dhoni
by Jomesh George on Oct 31, 2013 02:25 PM

I totally disagree with Dhoni. The match that produced the maximum runs or the biggest chase ever (aus vs SA in 2006) had been voted as the best ever ODI in the cricket history by some experts. To chase down such huge totals u need to have players with unlimited talent and great application and presently our Indian team have it.Why pak is not able to chase down even scores less than 200? Telling about bowlers how Mitch Johnson and Bhuvaneshwar survived in such a high scoring series.I am sure the likes of Steyn,Narine and Ajmal also would have survived even if playing in batting paradises.2 things r clear both sides have excellent batsmen and very weak bowlers.

Rules to be changed
by amol zarkar on Oct 31, 2013 11:59 AM

The bowlers must get an extra cushion of 5 fielders outside the 30 yard circle in the slog overs from 41-50. At least this might give some respite to the bowlers.

Con.gress is going to divide us
by abhinav jain on Oct 31, 2013 11:57 AM  | Hide replies

Con.gressi Salman_Kurshid writes in his new_book what _Sikhs_ (and _Hindus_) sufered during_1984_roits was due to their _sins_ against_Muslims_ in 1947.

If this is not _communal_ then what is?

Con.gress has drafted a PCTV Bill (Preventive_of_Communal_and_targeted_Violence).. which is _Anti-Hindu_ and will empower _Muslims_ to file FIR against _Hindus_, which will be non-bailable and cases can be opened from 1950s.

Must be a fairplay
by BS on Oct 31, 2013 11:24 AM  | Hide replies

1) When limited overs concept started it was 60 overs. Even then scoring 300 was considered extraordinary.

2) When it was changed to 50 overs, a score of 300 was considered great.

3) When 20-20 started the the entire game took a new turn with complete slogging. Bowlers became a hunted species. A score of 150-200 became achievable.

4) if one can score 150 in 20 overs, why not 350 in 50 overs?. So the new limit for 50 overs is set to 300 .

5) The present rules are unfair to bowlers. Unless some protection is given to bowlers such as extra fielders outside circle, a bit of leniency is wide ball rules, removal of free hit etc etc.

instead of preparing flat pitches the curator should be making efforts to make bouncy pitches or turning to assist pace / spin bowlers.this will make sure only technically competent batsmen can play the game..

No fun in cricket anymore
by Raja on Oct 31, 2013 10:28 AM  | Hide replies

1. Field restrictions.
2. No short bowling.
3. No swinging old ball.
4. Power plays.
5. Fun in seeing a fast bowler with two slips and a gully has gone away.
6. Bolwers bowl to save runs and not get the team out.
7. Pathetic

Well said. Cricket has become so boring now a days. Waiting for the day the bowlers are replaced by machines and the team that hits most sixes and fours wins the game!
