Agarkar was always a good bowler . 288 wickets in ODI's is not a small achievement at all . He was always a wicket bowler and above all , a brilliant fielder and a useful batsman . Wishing you good luck Ajit .
Was a joy to watch him bowl those toe crunching yorkers and rattling the stumps. How many indian bolwers has this yorkers now ? so, An extremely talented cricketer who achieved much less than what he was actually capable of. Anyway, thanks and best of luck

Is it? He holds the world record for being the fastest to get to 50 ODI wickets! He is only behind Kumble & Srinath for the most wickets by an Indian in ODIs and his STRIKE rate is better than them. And he is no. 13 on the all time list amongst bowlers in ODI cricket.
He played only 25 odd Tests but his 6/41 at Adelaide against Australia in 2003, helped India win its first Test in 20 years in Australia.
An extremely talented cricketer who achieved much less than what he was actually capable of.

you are absolutely right. In most of the games india lost, he was given the last over to bowl and was so brilliantly erratic that, even a mohalla boy would hit him to the fence. Beauty, in some matches, he even bowled wide and No Ball. Belated decision, yet welcome.
agarkar was very good pace bowler, swing bowler and reasonably good bat..he could not utilize the many chances offered to him...remember he got many ducks in Australia..once he was dropped from the national side he faded away.

Dude, he took 288 wickets in ODI's at an average of 27.85. That is more than enough. He said he always played as a bowler though he started off as a batsman. I think he has one of the finest ODI bowling stats for a fast bowler at least in Indian cricket given that he has been most successful in subcontinent/dry conditions. Hats off to Agarkar. Was a joy to watch him bowl those toe crunching yorkers and rattling the stumps. Pity he didn't get the recognition he deserved. Indian cricket fans will remember him for a long long time.
the best, Agarkar. One of the most underrated bowlers of your time and you were part of most of India's ODI success during those days with your early wickets and reverse swinging yorkers towards the end of the innings.

Yes. I was actually a fan of him. He is very talented. But may be if he had worked under coaches like Gary Kirsten he would have been more successfull. His Bowling action is fantastic like Glenn Mcgrath.
