OPTING FOR OLD DISCARDS WOULD BE RETROGRADE STEP
by damodaran mohan on Oct 17, 2013 06:46 PM

After virtually the two emphatic knock-out rounds with scores level at 1-1 it becomes very difficult to predict the series result. However given the home advantage India even with relatively weaker looking bowling attack seems to have the edge after yesterday's awesome batting. Moreover as far as batting is concerned the emphatic win at jaipur hard and bouncy wicket is somewhat heartening because ultimately India has to prepare to defend its title on pacy Aus-NZ wickets in 2015.Bowling ? After the mauling recd. by the Aus’s supposedly strong pace attack are we too harsh in judging our bowlers ? Has the wicket and more so the new ICC rules of field restrictions hard on the bowlers ? But new rules are going to stay and so the earlier our bowlers learn to adapt the better it is. Perhaps as the series progresses we would know more about efficacy of our bowling attack and Dhoni is best placed to choose his bowlers and combination etc for the playing XI. Although both the spinners and pacers seem to need to bowl better It is felt that it is always better for selector’s call for any change to look for from among the new up-coming youngsters—-couple of spinners, all rounder’s who have done well in recent times. Going back to old discards as suggested by some experts would be a retrograde step.

Time to prepare Fast piches in India
by Abstract baba on Oct 17, 2013 10:58 AM

BCCI can now start instructing the curators to prepare hard pitches with some grass. We atleast now have brave players capable of facing 150 speed deliveries. we may lose some matches, still fine.

The Question
by Ramdas Nayak on Oct 17, 2013 10:51 AM  | Hide replies

My question to cricket lovers is that if Sehwag, Sachin and Gambhir had batted yesterday in place of Shilar, Rohit & Virat whether India could have chased 359? BCCI should stop giving more opportunities to seniors including Harbhajan & Zaheer to come back and spoil the momentum.

Correctly said. But from the 5 names you took India needs Zaheer at this moment. Our attack is pathetic.no offence to anyone I respect all of them and I love Gauti but he might not have got that target.

Virat has proved time and again. He should be given additional responsibilities slowly so that when he become captain he can handle the pressure and batting equally well.

"Rohit Sharma (141 not out), Virat Kohli (100 not out) and Shikhar Dhawan (95) were the main contributors for India."

What? They were the only contributors aside extras.

Poor Indian Bowling . replace Ishant sharma ,Vinay Kumar immedaitely with umesh Yadav and Zaheer Khan. Replace Ashwin with Amit Mishra and give Jaydev Unadkat a chance in the team.

Indian Team cannot be expected to chase Totals of 300 in alll one dayers becuase of inept bowlin attack.

In Zaheer khan we at least have a better fielder than Ishant. :P
but ishant should not be replaced
Zaheer also has the ability to hit 4 sixes in an over occasionally(like he did 2 olonga)
