First of all, I am not a Pakistani. I too was a Sachin fan once upon a time. Would write his stats in book & collect his pics from magazine & newspaper. But the fact remains that for the last 3-4 years, after the World Cup he is playing just for himself. He says he is playing for the love of game but doesnt Kumble, Dravid, Saurav, laxman love the game as much. He said he never played for statistics but each & every stage they showed up. Richards, Bradman, Imran, Gavaskar never had such a farewell, then why for him? Cricket is a team sport & not a one man show.

Only statistically the greatest...I agree with Kuldeep's point - when Sunny retired he was the then highest scorer in test cricket with highest no. of 100s.

when gavasker retired we all know that records will break by another but when sachin retires all know that his records wont break anymore so give him some more importance than other players

No I don't agree, when Sunny retired AB was way behind in terms of runs and there was no one close to his 34 100s. In fact Sachin broke that after 18 years!When Sachin retires, can't Kallis score 7 100s to equal him? Records are meanto be broken, what seems impossible becomes possible over time.

greatest player statistically, that's all. He's not the greatest player but one of the greatest (Bradman, Sobers, Murali, Warne, S Waugh, Lara, Kapil, Dravid, Vishy, Imran, Richards, Gavaskar, Kallis...there are many up there). He's not even the greatest in India but one of the greatest Indian players.
