DHONI HAS TO SWITCH TO SPIN CENTRIC ATTACK
by damodaran mohan on Oct 14, 2013 02:34 PM  | Hide replies

Helped on by bouncy Pune wicket the Aus pace attack completely demolished the supposedly better Indian batting. Now what do Dhoni & co. do ? Obviously India has to play on its strength, which is spin bowling. So, change from 3-1 pace-spin combo to 2-2 pace-spin combo. Further, inclusion of J/Unadkat along with B/Kumar will bring variety and besides Unadkat has been bowing well in the recent matches.Spin bowling:Jadeja is just ok but he needs to perk up more especially batting which looks pathetic. As far as Ashwin is concerned his performance is below par for sure for a lead bowler and adds to the ineffectiveness of the bowling unit. Possibly Ashwin feels his place is secure and so keeps trying all sorts of variations as a rule than exception. Why can’t he use common sense instead ? Ashwin doesn’t seem to understand the Mechanics of ‘bowling’-- the way the body momentum is transferred to the ball before delivery. The ‘Pause “kills” the ‘momentum’ besides giving enough time to the batter to adjust as the deliver slows down. He rarely bowls accurate off-spinner stock ball. Unless he is dropped I don’t see this fellow improving. Amit Mishra has to be in playing XI and Dhoni should use part timers ,Yuvi and Raina to the extent possible to make the attack spin centric. Evidently the wickets have to be also spin friendly. Coming to batting, openers have to give a good start otherwise the old Sehwag-Gambhir story star

Frankly if it true -congratulation to them for not going to the stadium .this needs to be done to bring the Corrupt BCCI and many more to ground reality .They have killed the game .Pune is land of intellectuals and they are demonstrating it now.

no one gave us a chance in champions trophy. look back what happened. because we won the trophy, we are expected to win this series 7-0. this is what the brainless media points to. i have personally played cricket till the districts level. i can understand how difficult it is to play at the highest level consistently. and with the kind of non stop cricket our lads are playing, i would be surprised if we can win this series itself. lets be honest in our evaluation.

disband the board, appoint ex cricketers to the top and they will know how to curtail meaningless games.

very good. when india wins, claim that they are professional. when india loses claim that they are stressed out. typical dhobi standards.

odi no 1.
by sivanandam lakshmanan on Oct 14, 2013 07:28 AM  | Hide replies

India become no 1 in tests by wins against strong team thanks to Ganguly & co & the contribution of famed five(SRT,VVS,Wall,Kumble,Dada).
Dhoni reaped the benefit. after they have retired smoothly india is white washed in England & aus.
India become no 1 by default.Englnad/Aus/SA losses in ODI.
so where is the point of defending odi ranking.

see how the indian batsmen yuvi, jadeja, dhobi, raina & others folded against fast bowling.
India can play spinners that too in india where ball doesn't rise above knee.
If australia consistently employ four fast bowlers the result will be the same, since india kept the players who can play fast bowling in cool & selected players on regional basis/quota system.
