Rohit Sharma is the greatest Cricketer Mumbai and India has ever produced.I hope Sachin learnt a lot of things by playing Under Rohit for Mumbai Indians..

Rohit Sharma has inpired many people to take up the game of cricket seriously and has brought glory to Mumbai via ipl and champs league...

Sachin is also a good player- we wish him all the best

When Rohit retires in a couple of years...everyone will cry and I predict people will miss seeing a living legend- it will be a bigger blow than sachin retire

its only becoz of Sachin's humility he has remained here for all these years. its so kiddish and foolish to compare Sachin with Rohit. No player of his Caliber would have played under a captain Junior to him. that is the great Sachin

good to know that it is because of tendu's humility that rohit has been around for these many years.

no doubt he is a good player., ultimately he is indirectly snubbed by BCCI to retire.what a disgrace. As usual he waits for another another landmark.,before retiring

16 & 40
by Rahul maya on Oct 11, 2013 05:30 PM

When Mr. Tendulkar statrted playing test cricket at 16, every one was marvelled. But, when he reached 40 years, many were still reeling under the false notion that he is still 16 and should continue to play cricket.

Every one has to face in life the inevitable twin. If, after death lives moves on for the near and dear ones, the similar happens when a person retires from productive life.

It would be a huge responsibility for WI bowlers to ensure that master plaster does not get out cheaply and make enough runs to have a memorable exit.

Why Sachin retired at the right time
by Maihoon Don on Oct 11, 2013 03:08 PM  | Hide replies

Imagine after winning 2011 world cup,

India were on top both in Test cricket (ranked No.1) and having won one day world cup.

I wanted to Sachin to retire from ODIs on a high then. But on hindsight, he must have felt that he will continue with test cricket where India had to continue consolidating their ranking and that he would play ODI series as part of the bilateral series to keep in touch with the game.

But as things turned out, India lost 4 nil both in Eng and Aus, Dravid and Laxman the other powerful houses of test cricket hung up their boots.

Sachin had yet to ensure that India re-establish themselves in test cricket after these humiliating series defeats and to guide the youngsters for that. So, he continued with test cricket in 2012-13 season. But his reflexes were failing him badly and due to bad series results even at home, he had to be forced to retire at least in ODI format in bilateral series and so he did exactly that at end of 2012 for the ODI series against England.

But he had to continue to ensure India reestablish their hold in Test cricket, so he was instrumental in India's test cricket resurgence in the first innings against Australia in 2013 making a valiant 81 and guiding the team. He did not make high scores for the rest of the series but Indian team had picked themslves up and blanked Australia 4-0 due to youngsters like Dhawan and Pujara.

Now we come to latest season of cricket, MI won the IPL and champions league T20....

contd....

And Sachin was satisfied that his team had won T20 and become leaders in IPL. Now only test cricket was remaining to retire from and he thought that since youngsters had already established themselves in the test series against Australia and doing well in IPL and CLT20, it would be apt to retire when Indian team as a whole is picking up with the help of youngsters.

So he decided to retire. Note that all the time if you see the series of events from 2011, he always thought of the team first and how India had to have a collective pool of players who can be the future of Indian cricket and help the team by establishing themselves in Indian team.

Now only thing that remains to be seen is how Indian youngsters will perform in all away series starting with South Africa and then England, New Zealand and Australia.

But Sachin had done his bit by bringing back the momentum in Indian cricket after the slump post World Cup 2011 win when they were at the top of the world.

Dont go overboard
by arvind gangoly on Oct 11, 2013 03:03 PM

There are no doubts he was talented and for that the country and his fans gave him is due in terms of respect and money. But he should now go gracefully; his attempts to hang on at any cost is indeed ungraceful. let new talent also flourish. there is so much money in this game that people will hang on, until pushed
