IT WAS ROHIT SHARMA ALL THE WAY
by damodaran mohan on Oct 03, 2013 05:28 PM

This win of MI must easily be one of their best wins ever in the last six IPLs and couple of CLT20s.The way they played their first match against RR no one gave them any chance to make it to the semis. But to the credit to the side they came back very strongly and entered the semis with a bang against ‘handicap’ of shortened overs.Although D/Smith and K/Pollard had important contribution but it was Rohit Sharma at his brilliant best leading from the front and he stood apart.Rarely Rohit Sharma has been seen playing with such resolve and intensity to achieve the objective. If only he can produce a mix of such temperament and skill more often his side whether it is MI or the Indian side it will be simply an invincible side. Now the chances of MI making it to the final are quite bright and should they meet even CSK, chances of MI winning the final are better given the way they played against PS. Now coming to the other Gr B match, CSK having made it to the semis already it seems were finding it difficult to motivate themselves. CSK’s bowling also looks weak and ineffective except for Ashwin.Sir jadeja is looking completely lost and the only plus point for CSK is Raina’s scintillating form with Hussy and Dhoni also chipping in with some big shots.Given this background CSK certainly are not the top favorites to win the title.

Reason for SA tour cancellation...

To save Sachin from being routed by Steyn and co. Instead, BCCI are working out an honourable retirement for him by arranging an easy home series with an easy team.

Great Sachin losing greatness
by Srinivas A Madhan on Oct 03, 2013 06:52 AM  | Hide replies

People should ask 'WHY'and not 'WHY NOT'a playershould retire; remarks by Gavaskar years back. This is applicable to Tendulkar who, I am afraid will not give place to other young deserving players, continuing with his glories of the past miserably failing. Do u hear Sachin?

The standout team in the CLT20 is Ottago with performance showing supremacy in all aspects of the game.
Also the Titans was the equipped team for the format. Hence after exhibition of good show if they are not reaching the semifinals, it looks good strategy is displayed by the semifinalists CSK & MI to fix up a good display for winning the CLT20 2013

RR and CSK will most probably play the final of CLT20.MI was very lucky to get in to semifinal only due to Rohit Sharma. What can one say about Tendulkar?

Why Sachin should retire - 2
by nj woc on Oct 02, 2013 10:53 PM

It is sad to see him trying to play as worst batsman of Indian team. It is as if old Shakrukh Khan is still insisting to play teenager hero roles. It is really heart-breaking to see Sachin-who-was-great with that kind desperation to be part of Indian team. Sachin was "God of cricket". But he should be smart to retire in time with whatever dwindling godness is left in him due to his lack of performance.

why Sachin should retire
by nj woc on Oct 02, 2013 10:50 PM  | Hide replies

I consider myself to be a big fan of Sachin the cricketer & bigger fan of Sachin the human being.

Sachin not retiring in time is bad for spectators whether they are fans or not. (1) Fans are hurting to see Sachin as one of the poorest performer in team
(2) Other spectators are not getting their money's worth.

Only reasons Sachin wants to play is because :
(1) He enjoys cricket.
- He can do this on his own time & dime instead of wasting paid spectators time & occupying a position in Indian team. If he loves cricket so much, he can gracefully play other roles such as team manager/selector/commentator/consultant/administrator/guide, etc.
(2) He thinks he has some more innings left in him.
- It is time to get real. Recent data does not support that thought.

He should retire with whatever respect is left for him, before being kicked out in a humilating way. And if that happens it will immensely hurt millions of Sachin fans around the world. But it will be his own doing.

In the sports industry, spectators make the stars. The moment you stop performing they just look for someone else. Sachin's (or anyone's) position in Indian team should not depend on past performance or achievements, no matter how great they are. The team is chosen to "perform now". If you are not doing it, then you should step away & make room for those "performing better than you now".

It is sad 2 see him trying to play as worst batsman of Indian teamas if old Shakrukh i

Gavaskar rmarkedyears back; People should ask 'WHY' and not 'WHY NOT' the successful player player retires. It appears now it was for the 'GREAT' Sachin. Sachin does not want to quit gracefully before he is dropped. Lots of young players with potentials r deprived of by the 'GREAT'
Madhan (DADDY) Pune.

It was a great Innings from Sachin. Perfect 100 in the must win match. Unfortunately the scorer forgot to add 1 and 0 in his scorecard.
