Things that Zak brings to the table
by better thanyourx on Nov 27, 2013 11:12 AM  | Hide replies

At 35, we can't expect Zak to run in and bowl his heart out with good pace all day. But we can't really deny that he is the most experienced and potent old ball operator in India at present. How to make the batsman play and entice him to make mistakes is something which a bowler learns with experience and Zak has wealth of it so he can be an able mentor / guide to the new crop of Indian bowlers who lack experience of South African conditions.
Mentally a bowler could be low if he is bowling well but doesn't have much to show by way of wickets after a long day, that's where an arm around the shoulders by a senior pro would play a significant role. Zak is still an asset.

Very wrong decision
by Murali Krishnan on Nov 27, 2013 12:11 AM  | Hide replies

Very wrong decision include Zaheer. He cant even bowl 5 overs in a Test match. Second innings he will not even come to field. Useless selectors.

IMO, it is a step in the backward direction to select Zak and Ishant. If at all this series will go on, I hope I am proved wrong..

Murli,I am sure you saw him bowl against Haryana at Lahli and he didn't do what you've mentioned. It's not always right to constantly judge someone on the basis of past.
