THE GAPING HOLE IN THE INDIAN ONE DAY MIDDLE ORDER !

Congrats to WI for the win in the 2nd one dayer at Vizag. Considering that WI are a good One day side their first win in the tour. must come as a real morale booster post the Test debacle. With scores level at 1-1 the decider at Kanpur, there is fresh revival of competitive interest in the series. However in the decider WI could face a much stiffer challenge compared to at Vizag where India looked sloppy in the field although it was partly Indian batting failure to blame. The so called strong Indian batting in fact looks deceptive given the big hole in the middle order consisting of underperforming Yuvi,Raina and Jadeja with the bat. One can’t expect Virat Kohli to fire or even Dhoni to play the finishing cameos every time. While Raina and Jadeja may still justify their places in the long haul for 2014 , Yuvi’s place certainly looks untenable. Further, Rahane or Rayudu are not exactly the answer keeping 2014 in mind as the selectors have come up with !A solid batsman like Pujara is needed in the middle order. On the bowling front both Ishant and Mohit do not merit selection based on their performances so far. Unadkat affording variety looks better choice and needs more opportunities. Further, considering Jadeja’s batting limitations a pacer all rounder like A/ Nayar who can bat well gives better flexibility for Aus conditions. Coming to spin, Ashwin bowled the best spell at Vizag in the series so far and has to aim for wickets primarily ,not just cont

(contd..)..aim for wickets primarily ,not just containment. Ashwin missed a golden opportunity of 5 wkt haul at the spin friendly pitch at Kochi where even part timer Raina picked up more wickets!
