While Cricket is very popular in India the other games take a back seat. Only the hero of cricket is most celebrated and more awards are provided to him. I agree with Shivanand Tiwari, that other games must also be recognized and awarded. As Dhyan Chand and Dhnraj and others have contributed to the game of Hockey they should be rewarded and the game uplifted. I think we must give room for other games to come up instead of being shaded by cricket.

Vishy has revolutionized chess in India. he has won world championship five times. he has won Oscar six times. today, we have world champions in each age group only because of Anand. whereas, Sachin is over hyped. he played a game that is played mostly in weak and corrupt sporting nations like india, pakistan, sri-lanka, bangladesh.
I am a bit pained by messages where people spew venom on Sachin saying that Dhyanchand or Anand did not get it. All of these people are legends. However, some have contributed more than others. People who inspire others through excellence are always role models for a society, city, state, country and sometimes across the globe. If some of you think that Sachin has paid all international cricketers to make statements about him, I would wish you good luck and hold on to that. He is one who has received accolades from the average cricket fan to the likes of Federer, Michael Owen etc., Its not Dhyanchand or Anand's fault that they have played less popular games but the fact remains that Sachin ended up being more influential than them(with maximum respect to those achivers) and hence has inspired many people. Moreover, whether Sachin gets Bharat Ratna or not, the truth is that millions of Indians have been inspired by his excellence (how he did not take shortcuts, how he has silenced his critics by performance almost all the time, how he has come back from several injuries and form-losses) are all lessons that a real inspiration-seeking would look for. While Dhyanchand and Anand have definitely showed similar traits, the positive influence Sachin has created is definitely more. Yes! I am a Sachin fan but I know he is not greater than India but he has served the nation to the best of his abilities.

dear its ok sachin deserves bharat ratna but first it should given to dhyanchand then any other one.at that time there is very less media role in society..so u cant say that ...leve all the politics sachin must be rewarded with bharat ratna..but dhyanchand first..hockey is our national game brother...so u cant say that it is less popular game..

I used to carry a hockey stick to school. Most kids in our school played hockey and not cricket. Dhyan Chand is a legend in an international sport played in Olympics, won 3 gold medals, played as a member of Indian Army. As much as Sachin deserves the highest honor, Dhyan Chand and Vashy Anand's achievements are no less compared to The Littel Master's
Sachin excelled in cricket which is played in hardly fifteen countries in the world.He may have scored more than 15000 runs in tests but he has also made more than 15000 crores of rupees.there has been a case where he has tried to evade Customs duties or his luxury Ferari car.Certainly he is not the right choice for the Nation's highest award.Dhyan Chand who earned the country so many gold medals in ihe Olympics playing hockey,Leander Paes who has done wonders in Tennis, both Olympics and Davis Cup,are more desrving recipients of the Nation's highest decoration.
This is the highest civilian award and the person selected should be a "Ratna"(jewel).The person sgould have done "exeplary" selfless, service to nation/humanity".Mr Sachin Tendulkar has excelled in cricket, but can be treated as service to nation or humanity?Has not been paid hansome money? Has he not earned hundreds of crores endorsing commercial items, including controversial goods? Excellence in profession/popularity/political reasons do not justify coferring such prestigious awards.But barring few cases all the BharaT Ratna awarded on "extraneous" considerations only. Mr.Dyan Chand palyed brought Olympic gold several times and left a legacy only not wealth.In the present context Mr.Viswanathan Anand's achievement,against several, is no lesser tahn Sachin's
