why amartya sen was conferred with BR , only bcoz he won noble and born in india... BR is felicitated not only serving the mankind but also excellence in other field of life.
Please make no mistake, I am one of the biggest admirer of his game and skills. The kind of adulation and money he has earned for his hard work and sacrifices is justifying that. In my view BR should be most coveted award and prefer to given for much longer service period, impact of their contribution on the society should everyday life. This award should be given to those unsung stories which has impacted millions on their day to day life but hardly world knows his/her contribution. Jai-hind

I really endorse the view. I personally feel that it was overdoing. We have 'n' number of players/citizen who have contributed for the pride of the nation in adverse situations. It is all political. Politicians fail to understand that it is a phobia created by media and it will be over in next couple of weeks. I am not against anybody but somehow, I feel, BR is losing its dignity.

Both of you forget that Sachin has contributed a lot to rise of India to No.1 position in Cricket. He has records in all fields of batting in his name & he is our countrman. He has played for 24 years - without ANY SCAM involving him - unlike our political stars. With such feats in cricket even England has honoured cricketers from world over with Kinghthood (forgot Sir Garry Sobers?). Even Australia has honoured him with their civilian honour of the highest degree. So SACHIN IS OBVIOUS QULIFIER FOR OUR HIGHEST CIVILIAN HONOUR.

yes i agree & about the money part everyone earned money .the only difference is in cricket more & other places less.also see tendulkar is an idol never endorsed tabocco alchol adds.
as it has become now.. this award has been given to really useless people also.. probably sachin might himself feel now that he has been done in by politics. Mera Bharat Mahaan

Is Shiva Sena's ideology is changing? It is this party that spoke about Sachin being part of Maharashtra and he should be focus on MH interest first. The above statement that party claims he is "India's identity" makes me fell good about Shiva Sena's attitude of India first followed by MH.

This above statement makes me not to support picking Vajapayee for BR. Reason is simple - by giving BR to political leaders like Indira and Rajeev, the value of BR is lost; it is as good as one of those political parties lobbied award. By giving BR to Sachin or Rao, the current government disrespected the achievements of these two icons. Certainly, Vajapayee should not accept it even if this award is given him whenever BJP comes to power.

Mr. TEWARI has the Nehru Gandhi Family not made enough money to be stored in SWISS BANKS & all of them in their Family have received Bharat Ratna. It is a question of time when POLITICIANS like you will ensure Sonia, Rahul, Priyanka, Robert Vadra & their children are also given Bharat Ratna before they are permanently out of POLITICAL BUSINESS. Hope this will happen before 2014 elections.
We go over board doing things . I was an admirer of Sachin Tendulkar for ages , all the same the hype and coverage is certainly going over board. Yes ! even in hthe past so many got BR but that was most political and in my personal view not deserving also .But these decisions are made by politicians and we know what they are ! in a different context Mr.Rao has mentioned what they are I will only add besides they are looters of the nation and fully respect Chuchill statement last resort of a scoundrel .
But while doing so please don't disrespect heroes of this nation. If Sachin is honored then why not others? that's the question is raised by few. Government should come clean and declare the rationale behind this selection. As, most of Indians are proud with this announcement, government can easily answer those with exception.

The answer has already been given...by an upright Scientist of INDIA!...Mr. C.N. RAO..who too has been awarded the same AWARD and has been CAPABLE of calling our POLITICIANS by the name they really DESERVE!
