Once and for all decorate Sonia, Rahul, Priyanka,Robert and also their children the Bharat Ratna and stop giving it. One more award should be reserved for wife of Rahul, as and when she arrives on scene. Is it OK Mr. Shukla?

Bharat Rathna
by Ranganathan on Nov 18, 2013 05:36 PM

All these people are talking about sachin, but not Prof C N R Rao, a Scientist. This is the world full of players. I hope, cricket is not every thing and a sports person can get any other awards. We are not honouring great people like Vajpayee, T N Seshan, etc. The status of Bharat Ratna is coming down

Degrading the value of Bharat Ratan
by pankaj kalra on Nov 18, 2013 03:59 PM

Mr Minister, as citizens of India we want to understand why all members of one family received the most prestigeous award of the country. Firstly why did we extend the criteria of eligibility of this award to Sports when sports have their own set of awards. If it was to be extended why did we not give it to be people who deserved it the most like Major Dyanchand and Milkha Singh. People who didn't get a penny for dedicating their life to sports. This act is Similar to extending a Paramvir Chakra of Army to a sportsmen.

Bharat Ratna!
by vinod issar on Nov 18, 2013 03:35 PM

My dear Shuklaji,Bharat Ratna can not be and should not be compared with any other award as it is placed on a very high national pedestal.
Moreover, nobody will find fault with the decision to award Bharat Ratna to Sachin Tendulkar, but the issue is that Major Dhayan Chand and Milkha Singh should be bestowed with this 'BHARAT RATNA' Award retrospective effect, immediatly,to set at rest this debate.

Bharat Ratna should be given to a certain group only
by Jomesh George on Nov 18, 2013 01:20 PM

No doubt Sachin is one of the greatest sports personalities the country has ever produced. But he is already received honours for that.Padma Vibhushan and RG Khelratna award and nomination to Rajyasabha are examples. But Bharat Ratna given to him is something unbelievable to me.It is the highest civilian honour and given to the greatest personalities born in the country only.Great politicians scientists soldiers who sacrificed their life for the country deserve it more than that of Sachin. Now people will start telling about Amitabh Bachan to be honoured like this.Sachin or Bachan should be honoured with RG KhelRatna or Falke awards which are the highest orders in their respective fields but Bharat Ratna is totally beyond my imagination.
