Comparing players of 2 different era is always difficult because we cannot depend on statistics between them for comparison. The only way is finding out how superior they were among their contemporary cricketers. The only 2 players i could find out superior to other players in their era were 1. Don Bradman : His avg was more than 30 ahead of the next best in his era.He scored more centuries more double centuries had the best conversion rate and had an unbelievable consistency.Bradman was also faster than the other players as he scored the fastest triple century during that time. 2.There were other players who had a better avg in tests or had more centuries than Viv.But his SR was much higher than other players and nobody could match his impact or dominance. He pulled of some unimaginable victories from the jaws of draw or defeat like the 56 ball century. He was way ahead of others in ODI cricket. His avg and SR were never matched by any other players during his era. Also he was a player of big occasions like the 79 WC final century. In this era we have so many great players who has similar avg and century % to matches and also somewhat similar statistics in their ODI exploits too.Sachin is just ahead of others because of his longevity and keeping the form.
broken all of his records in tests. No doubt about it. Besides this guy only scores centuries still hasnt won a test series in Aus & SA. And you have to admit Lara never had good batsmen and West Indies were always down and struggling. Sachin had it easy because they were lots of other good batsmen in Indian team. Sad but truth. Just my opionion.
Re: if lara had played as long as tendulkar he would have

If Kambli played as long as tendulkar, he might have crossed all records, as he was better test batsman by that time. If Kapil has played untill now he might have got 1000 wickets.
Lara has less average than sachin. He can hit 300 or 400 but not consistent to get better average than sachin. Consistency also matters.
I Hope this idiot gets out in the first ball to live up to his reputation even in his last 'fixed' test match.
BCCI should recover the cost of conducting his 'adjustment' test series from this money monger Tendulkar.
I really hope that this is 'one last time' and this guy will not make a comeback after few days like "resurrection of Jesus Christ "or with a "Awam ka bhulava" logic.

Bradman is the Greatest ever sports person ever. But he may not have got 99 average if he lived in this era.
7 of the Top 10 averages in Test batsman came from batsman of bradman era ie 1928-48. 3 of the Top 10 averages batsman played in 1960s. Why - Runs come easy in those days. Who are the world all time top 10 bowers. In simple None of these Brandamn or top 10 average batsman faced World all time Top 10 bolwers.
Players of Sachin era faced 90% of the All time top bolwers.
Bradman made 30% of his centuries in one single ground. On the whole he played in 10 gounds only. 30% of the matches Brandman played are on teams that had NOT won a test match by that time. They are equivalent to kenya or bangaldesh level of present day teams. Only england is one good team he played against. No variation. same bowlers all life long.
10 years back ,foreign media compared sachin as only comparable player to Bradman.
sachin stopped being 'great' long back..prolonging his retirement by several years, he's just a shadow of what he used to be. as for sunny g's comments, well he's just being sunny g.
