Bharat-Ratna - Sachin
by sanjay kulkarni on Nov 06, 2013 11:34 PM

Sachin gave us many many occasions of joy and pride for being an Indian.
Being legendary sportsman, he is still down to the earth.
So much to learn from his personality and his behavior in and out of the ground....

Really, Indian Govt. should reward Sachin's contribution with Bharat-Ratna award....

Sachin is already Bharat-Ratna for all of us... it will be just official declaration...

History and Sachin
by Kathir Krishnamurthi on Nov 05, 2013 09:49 PM

Cricket in India has a rich history from Colonial Times. So many cricketers have brought the game to its current place. How can you attribute to one person so disproportionately the popularity of this game in India.

If you want to credit Sachin with what Kapil schieved, it would be very unfair. Sachin, infact took cricket to its place that India had attained by batting, and not winning through an allround play. We have had excellent batsmen in the past. Sachin rode on their shoulders of history and the platform was built strongly.

Whether you like it, it is still like politics and movie, where the history or glorified fictional writing is done by the higher-ups.

I haven't read the story of Balwankar in Rediff, the first true Indian player, not a Maharaja or rich person who was sent to English school or England to play cricket.

inspiration on how to cling on to your place irrespective of the consequences on the entire team and the nation in particular. Sachin is fit for politics and rightly so, joined Congress. He should have quit after the 2003 World Cup. Can't blame him.. after all, he had to do the bidding of his sponsors and the stake holders ... bye bye, Sachin. You were great until you turned insecure and began playing for your personal milestones instead of playing for the country. Besides, his leadership skills were downright pathetic. I dread to imagine how many more such articles true Cricket fans will have to endure.
