Dravid is the talking point of IPL 6 edition. His stands tall than Sachin. Why Rediff has missed out Dravid statistics. Are you biased

Sachin's Contribution
by SachinIsGodThenIAmAnAtheist on May 28, 2013 10:21 AM  | Hide replies

Sachin has no substantial contribution in the biggest victories on the cricket field in the last 2 decades. Big Match, Big Stage and you can guarantee that Sachin would disappoint. There are other contemporary players who have shone on bigger occassions. For Sachin's fans, a triangular tournament in Sharjah was a huge tournament... lolz... If ever there is any question raised on Sachin playing under pressure, they give the example of the Sharjah matches, that too were played 15 years back. Players like Sachin should have single handedly won more matches for his country. Players like Inzamam ul Haq, Aravinda De Silva, who were not a part of an unbeatable team have won big matches played under exceptional pressure. If Sachin's fans can show us the list of big match innings, I can bring you a bigger list of such innings played by much ordinary players.

Well I agree that winning in bigger moments is important, however one has to reach those bigger moments in order to win it. And ithas been only Sachin who has pushed India to those bigger moments, take for example world cup 2003, 2011 , had Sachin not performed during the league and the playoff matches India would'nt have been there to the finals. Think of the Benson and Hedges series in Australia few years ago, Sachin's contribution in final got him the man of the series award. Sachin always performed when everyone else failed and on the other hand when Sachin failed, everyone performed. Cricket is a team game and he has always been a part of the Indian team above himself. Cricketing moments are not just the finals but one has to look at the road to the finals.

Very much wrong comment.
Sachin opens innings and his job has to be inning builder not finisher. The names which you have taken are players from middle order not openers. Steve Waugh, Dhoni ,Miyadad, De Silva are all time greats but from middel order, hence they are remembered for their match finishing abilities. But Openers like Sachin will be known for building the innings.

there is no point in comparing the two let us accept that both have given a lot to country and world of cricket But one thing for sure both are above caliber of either lara or ponting or even gayle.let us not get confused ourselves as if they are foes

Why no coverage for Dravid ?????
by mahesh mahesh on May 28, 2013 09:41 AM  | Hide replies

Though Dravid has also announced his retirement,REDIFF has not carried any report as is done in case of Sachin.

Dravid has proved that he is better than Sachin and extremely devoted, why this unreasonable bias???

In this IPL, Dravid was the talking point and was made as a hero be everyone!!!

Only true cricket lovers wopuld know about Dravid's worth!!!

Dear Mahesh,
no doubt that Dravid is a great batsman but he is miles behind SRT in terms of scoring runs, average and CHASING BIG TARGETS. Even dravid is not equivalent to lara or ponting and you are calling him better than Sachin. hahahaha :)

I agree with MS Dhoni on this... Dravid might not have scored as many runs sachin has scored but pls do not forget of all the recordbreaking parterneships he has had with Sachin, Ganguly, VVS Lakshman, Sehwag... Dravid has always been left out of the limelight.. That is a sorry state of affair..

If you are talking about IPL pls check the statistics of Sachin and Dravid in their last IPL.. Dravid has performed far better than Sachin..

Give the man respect he deserves..

Did all u know, when Team management asked Sach to come down under (1st/2nd down), he came in some matches but didn't score much as he can't take pressure like Ganguly / Dravid / Laxman & cried openy as he can't make World record in this position, a pure record hunger NOT a Team well wisher...Why he left T20 & played for IPL ? Why he didn't announce retire from IPL b4 MI wins Trophy ? Why he is not retiring from Test to save the career of NextGen like Dhawan, Pujara etc..What other records he want in his name ? Shall we called him a 24 Carat Selfish...

DRAVID'S SCORES 89       5       2174       75*       28.23       1882       115.51

Dravid do not open but for few matches in 2013 and hardly get to play, still see his record,

So what is so great about Sachin!!! just overhyped!!!

Though Dravid has also retired,NO NEWS ABOUT HIM,JUST BIASED

I agree Sachin is great batsman. He has tons of records in his kitty but never delivered when it mattered the most.
He scored run when India is in comfortable position but under pressure he crumbles like cookie.

All these figures are of One Day cricket. No doubt he is No.1 in One days but Dravid is par ahead in Test cricket ( Real cricket) where he has either won OR drawn no. of games for India in critical situation ( especially with Laxman).

In the End We can Say,tendulkar is complete batsman and Dravid is most technically sound bastman, but dravid came in that era that his brightness was overshadowed by tendulkar's greatness, its not dravid's fault.
