a lot of people are calling for legalizing betting so that malpractices could be checked and problems like spot fixing could be eliminated.Well that could have been a good proposition for other nations but for India it would not be ideal.Simply bcoz of vested interests outside India particulaly the underworld mafia operating in Dubai and Malaysia which is supported well by some of our own countrymen who are quite happy to cheat their motherland in return for quick bucks.
Consider a situation similar to this if faced by a USA or Australia then legalizing betting would be good as they could track the money inflow and outflow and their citizens involved would be happy to screw other nations while maintaining their nations interest . But for us betting fixing would lead to money laundering arms smuggling drugs smuggling et al
selection of ind team on ipl performances. i hv always said, dont select ind team on basis of club level performances of ipl. now its again proved that the club level ipl performances r not worth of anything. but still our national(?) team is selected on the basis of such fake performances. n v see our results at intnl level.

Arun, not necessary , seems like you have never played cricket. One side can easily fix, If I am a bowler and want to give away 14 runs I cna do it easily even ifthe batsman is not fixed. Bowl a wide, bowl a noball, bowl a legside ball with the field on the off. If nothing works on the 5th ball give 5 wides. There are so many ways to fix.

If CSK are fixers, then all other teams are equally fixers right? I am sure fixing is possible only when both teams agree. So, Deshbhakth, don't envy the success record of CSK. Your favourite team is also equally a fixer and should be stripped.

sameer if indeed anybody bowls and TRIES to give 13-14 runs purposely in a particular over...then it is the matter between the bookie and that particular spot-fixer...how can you blame anybody rest in the world without proof? how do you know anybody other than the bookie and concerned player was involved?

hari ray when india were no 1 in tests because of winning tests after test...how come they lost so many tests later? how 2 whitewashes? were those series fixed? the following players failed in those series...sehwag gambhir sachin laxman dravid...how come these players who were successful till then suddenly all of a sudden failed simultaneously?
