IPL league stage is coming to a close spanning over 70 matches with some exciting close finishes, brilliant individual innings and towards the end the unfortunate spot fixing charges, arrest of players etc. Demand for scrapping of IPL by some is not justified and is neither the solution to the problem given that corrupting influences are to be found in all the fields. However the ICC,BCCI and the IPL bosses have to do much more to protect the game of cricket forming the heart of IPL from such bad influences..Media reports suggest DP suspects the RR-Punjab match itself of ‘match –fixing’ and that Sreesant’s bookie fiend Jiju was seated in the VIP box during the match. How BCCI or IPL bosses allow such things ? Either the officials or the Fr’chisees owners are thoroughly incompetent or at least some of them are party to such happenings. Why IPL GC cannot draw firm ground rules of dos and donts in respect of the duration of a match and strictly implement them ? Such preventive measures are essential if BCCI is really serious in fighting match and spot fixing menace. Then of course BCCI will have to work in close co-ordination with state Police and ensure that the offenders are convicted and sent to jail. Simply banning players from cricket for different duration is not an adequate deterrent as seen so far.
One of the Bookie who complained to Mum. Police say , they(Mum. Police) refused to take up any action as there is one giant politician who will become unhappy if they investigate on betting/spot-fixing. He complained to Delhi Police and the rest followed. Now the bookie should also name the Mum. police whom he complained first as they also knew about this betting.
IPL is a league where lot of money is involved and when there is lot of money it naturally gives entry to two things corruption and greed. This league will never be clean. There will be instances like this. Stopping this league is the only solution. IF you really want to give platform to youngsters then the best way to test them is only through test cricket where a player can really understand the value and importance of the game.IPL is only making a player think about money not his game. Offcourse money is important however it loses its importance if its at the expense of the player's character and career.

Spot fixing in England happened in Test cricket with Pak players.Stopping is not a solution Tough deterrent is one of the ways When punishment is light (Ex Azharuddin,Hansie, etc) people take chances Cheating has happened and is happening in all games Foot Ball, Golf, Tennis, Olympics etc Ban cheaters for life give them tough jail terms May keep lot of players away from cheating
