His stats may be great....but mere numbers are not enough. Your opponent, the match situation, your contribiution to victory - all that matters. He has never played according to that. People claim he's the greatest batsman but we can say he's one of the greatest, he cannot be even called as the greatest Indian batsmen. With Hazare, Gavaskar, Vishwanath, Dravid, Azhar, Laxman and Ganguly being there, he can be called one of the greatest Indian batsmen. He is the most inflexible cricketer that I have seen in terms of batting position. He would play the position which suits him the most. For example, he would prefer to open in ODIs on flat Asian tracks but drop to #4 in England (see 1999 WC, 2002 and 2007 tours) as he's scared of losing his wicket in the early overs in seaming conditions. Similarly in tests, if the opener was unfit, Dravid would be ready to open (even when he was struggling for form in 2007-08 tour of Australia, he put up his hand to open in difficult conditions), but Sachin would not even move 1 place up to #3. Instead he would push VVS up from #5 to #3. Even in the latest series in Delhi, when Pujara opened, the #5 Kohli had to move to #3. Not Sachin. If he's the complete batsman, he should be ready to play in any position. He's a player obsessed for records. He will never leave Tests unless told so privately by BCCI. Lara retired when he was just 47 runs short of 12 K runs and leading Sachin by 1000 odd runs. He could have played until eternity for WI.

Ravi Iyer ,
You are spot on , buddy. He made it a prestige issue in late nineties that he will bat at no.4 only in tests. why ? because the bowlers are no longer fresh , pace & bounce of the wkt has been gauged etc etec. whereas in odis he chose to open because the bowlers are defensive , field placement restricted & there is a opportunity to bat longer. shame on such greatness.

His career span now only reminds me of Gulzar's memoreable words in the movie Anand: "Zindagi badi honi chahiye, lambi nahin!" Same with a sportsman's career.
why should he set targets . he keeps on watching the records of other cricketers , & then sets his targets. that is why he has not set target for his retirement
Sachin Sir will never retire,in the next decade or so he will occupy the dressing room as a mentor for younger players scoring some odd 30s,his mere presence in the dressing room will cause havoc in the opposition camp like it caused during 8-0 whitewash, after the decade sir will be there as a senior citizen pro advising arjun tendulkar in the dressing room scoring some odd 20s,shastri sir will say that look at the exquisite shot, juniors should learn from this and that. After that decade he will apply as a masseur job permanently till death.

he is a true inspirations. look at our bowlers . now they are scoring as many runs as he scores. he should never retire.
Today, the health of Mother Earth is at stake. Besides humans, it supports millions of other species. Yet it is finite, its resources are limited. It is not growing. Barely 12% of Earth is suitable for human habitat. And 7 billion of us occupy that. How many more can fit in? Is there room?
All that we consume is produce of earth. It is not just food. It is also air, water & energy. It is also materials that we must extract from innards of earth to build shelters & construct infrastructure that is not an option but a necessity for ‘progress’ – as we understand the term. Our land, air, water, energy, mining resources, infrastructure etc. are under severe stress.
Some century back we had 'Green Jungles'..... now we are/ will be proud inhabitants of 'CONCRETE Jungles'.........................

Tendulkar is well educated and i remember he studied and played for kirti college in mumbai. It is natural that people get jealous of sachin bcuz the tax he pays on his income is more than a decade of income of many professionals.

Did he study with you @ kirti college? He is a school dropout FYI, although no body has anything to do with his education.
