At present this great batsman is only playing for money, brand advertisements and royalties. This happens only in India where people cant time their bowing out time.

Yes and his fans will argue that he scored a magnificent 81 (which was vs a weak team) and he managed just 111 in his next 5 innings. Whereas the others were scoring 200s or 150 scores. This 81 will keep him in the team for the SA series. Ravi Shastri had faith on Sachin that he will fire in the Aussie series. But that has not happened. No century for 21 tests is poor not just by his standards but by any international standard. He will not retire - he will give flimsy reasons like it's selfish to retire at the top. But he's not on top any more, WC was over two yrs ago. He's blocking youngsters. Dravid went, we got Pujara. Sehwag dropped and we got Dhawan. Sachin goes and we get Rahane or Tiwary. Give the others a chance.

Sachin should retire gracefully now...

Sachin keeps slipping in rankings and more youngsters are improving and solidifying their positions in the test team. He's also blocking Rahane and Tiwary. Time to go as a respected verteran.

Preethi, if I become an ISI agent by merely voicing my opinion, I think you need to consult a doctor. BTW, I have not mentioned that he is not a great cricketer but it's time for him. That's all I have to say.

What is wrong is criticizing them? They are just players and one day will fade away and will need to be replaced. According to your logic we should still be playing with Gavaskar as an opener, with Vishwanath two-down.

Yes I TOTALLY agree with you it now time say Bye to cricket gracefully. He has done yeoman service but what he is doing now defies logics. Yes with Mount Everest of achievements what is he waiting for. When Cult figure and icons like Gavaskar, Kapil Dev have accepted retirement I really feel sorry for the talents in wait. When still potential people like Dravid and Lakshman were rather forced with Ganguly with unkind cut why are selectors still buying the line. It really defies logic and you don't need to be anti national in giving relevant opinion.

yes he is never even in top20 in test career.
His overseas avg in test is 28.
Great dhoni.
Dhoni as a batsman
Test Avg over all 39.0, Test avg overseas 28.0, No overseas century or match winning inning in test carrer even after playing 77 test.
T-20 Strike rate- 113, No fifty or match winning inning in entire career even after playing 42 matches
ODI- Good avg manipulated due to no. of not out innings & manipulative batting position. Even in ODI most runs scored on flat indian wicket against team like Pak/SLK & no overseas century.
Dhoni overseas ODI avg is just 39 with no match winning inning. If you remove his no. of not out innings(52 times), his avg drops less than 35 even in ODI.
As a wicketkeeper- Dropped catches in almost every match.

Dhoni test average outside
In WI 2006, 24
In SA 2006, 26
In AUS 2007, 17.62
In SA 2011, 35.8 ( one inning of 90 when styen/morkel was kept out of attack for 2-3 hrs)
In WI 2011- 19.5
( score of 0,16,2, 5 & 74(only one good inning when WI was operating with bowlers like bishoo/chandrapaul & front line bowler rampaul/shammi etc was resting due to injury).
In Eng 2011- 30.0
In Aus 2012- 20.0
As a captain good record only on indian pitches. Overseas he has lost more test matches(09) than what he won(05)
Win includes SLK, Bng, WI & NZL.
All other wicketkeeper batsman like Mat prior, Mclumn, Deviller, sangarkara are worldclass & have many match winning overseas inning while mediocre dhoni

He's a wk batsman who comes in at #7 not a specialist. So it is unfair to judge him with the same benchmark as a top order batsman. Of course, it's known that he's not comfortable with the moving ball abroad.

BTW, ODI 39 average abroad is great! You can't remove not outs and analyze. He's a late middle order batsman. FYI Sachin too has very less 100s abroad (meaning outside Asia, don't say Sharjah and exclude minnows like Namibia and Kenya) although he has over 18 K runs in his ODI career.

Dont count statistics they do not give fair picture. Gauge a person for what he gets. Innumerable times Dhoni has built a rear gaurd action and salvaged lost positions in to wins. His strategy and pressure handlings have given his statistics their weight in Gold.
