I am astonished to know that so many people have so much free time to continuously write useless comments/opinion and keep criticizing players who have much more calibre than these so called experts. Talk is cheap. It's time to ask ourselves 'what are we good for?' Just enjoy the sport with an open-mind!!!

Patil, if people cannot express opinion, then why whould rediff have something like this... it just an people expression that doesnt mean it is going to change anything or hurt Dhoni or Sachin for that matter .. if you think Talk is cheap, you better spend time in google and do some R/D rather creating an Rediff id and complaining others and barking with the cheap lines like " Talk is cheap"

Duranto, you need to check out my book "How to Bounce Back when Life Knocks you Down" then you'll know what I mean by 'talk is cheap'. If it doesn't apply to you let it fly buddy.
Dhoni like Kapil is a natural player and leader. Some of the other captains we have had - like Pataudi, Ganguly had a little more flair. Dhoni is all action...
We had better keepers in Kirmani and Engineer. But Dhoni brings overall value proposition - difficult to match in Indian cricketing history.

Dhoni as a batsman Test Avg over all 39.0, Test avg overseas 28.0, No overseas century or match winning inning in test carrer even after playing 77 test. T-20 Strike rate- 113, No fifty or match winning inning in entire career even after playing 42 matches ODI- Good avg manipulated due to no. of not out innings & manipulative batting position. Even in ODI most runs scored on flat indian wicket against team like Pak/SLK & no overseas century. Dhoni overseas ODI avg is just 39 with no match winning inning. If you remove his no. of not out innings(52 times), his avg drops less than 35 even in ODI. As a wicketkeeper- Dropped catches in almost every match.
Dhoni test average outside In WI 2006, 24 In SA 2006, 26 In AUS 2007, 17.62 In SA 2011, 35.8 ( one inning of 90 when styen/morkel was kept out of attack for 2-3 hrs) In WI 2011- 19.5 ( score of 0,16,2, 5 & 74(only one good inning when WI was operating with bowlers like bishoo/chandrapaul & front line bowler rampaul/shammi etc was resting due to injury). In Eng 2011- 30.0 In Aus 2012- 20.0 As a captain good record only on indian pitches. Overseas he has lost more test matches(09) than what he won(05) Win includes SLK, Bng, WI & NZL. All other wicketkeeper batsman like Mat prior, Mclumn, Deviller, sangarkara are worldclass & have many match winning overseas inning while mediocre dhoni has none. He is simply made by add agency, media & political fans by hyping his small succ
Dhoni is a wicketkeeper. he is not a batsman.Still batting so good, how many wicketkeepers score a double century. If Dhoni wd not have hit those 224 runs, wht wd have happened to the present series, mate? out of indian wins , in 70 percent of matches, he is always there till the end,the best finisher. grooming talented cricketers, right? captaining india and the club team in all 4 formats, but then we are in a habit of criticising. give 3 good bowlers to dhoni and then see what wonders the team India can do in SA. Pls talk positive, dhoni or no dhoni it is the team which is important, the country which is the most paramount.
All credits to Dhoni's Team India for crushing the Aussie pride under the boots of Indian spinners. BUT... Captaincy of Dhoni and skills of batsmen like Vijay and Dhawan are to be seen on the bouncy tracks where the bals will be spitting venom at the Indian batsmen. The point to ponder nad worry is that Indiamsns were lacking fast bowling skills totally, and the spinners, Ashwin, Jadeja and their likes will not be able to get anything from the foriegn wickets... so Dhoni, congrats to you for the 4-0 win, but prepare some strategies, which you are not at all good at, to deal with the foriegn conditions.

Why don't you give some strategies if you think you are good enough. You are talking about the best cricketing minds of India who are currently playing. They are also the best Indians to currently play cricket. They know their jobs- at least better than you- so please don't make useless comments sitting on an arm chair. Example- People kept talking about what why Rahane wasn't given a chance- see what happened- at least they gave him a chance when the series was already won Second example- people were criticizing on the choice of Vijay & Dhawan over Wasim Jaffar- see what happened

Don't give credit to Dhoni for Vijay & Dhawan's performance. If that is the case, he should be made responsible for the team's performance in the Tests which he lost! He can not take credit for only the wins!

Jay - He did. Dhoni was indeed blamed for losing 8 tests in a row. Critics were jumping into all sorts of conclusions and insulted him too. Now they all have their foot in their mouths and tails stuck behind their legs!

Don't worry Ashish. Now India will be whitewashed abroad in the next 1 year on fast tracks. The Pujaras, Jadejas and Rahanes will not know when their heads got knocked off.
Cook & Company taught Dhoni proper lesson in India. Spinning track became boomerang as Dhoni lost the series 2-1 as host. He shall get the opportunity again to have a befitting lesson if WI is there in India with Shillingford & Sunil Narain. Similarly, Pakistan will be a threat in India with Syed Ajmal. Dhoni was too selfish as a captain and could not resist himself to hit the winning stroke yesterday. Any other liberal captain with broad heart should have allowed Pujara to hit the winning stroke. Instead Pujara showed his broadness and allowed Dhoni to hit the winning stroke yesterday afternoon.

Take a walk. Saurav da lovers just cannot digest the fact that Dhoni has surpassed Saurav in every possible way in terms of captaincy. No wonder they keep crying even when Dhoni is playing good and winning!

His wicket keeping is nowhere near Nayan Mongia, forget Engineer and Kirmani. Batting in subcontinent he is better. But on overseas conditions, Dhoni's batting is nowhere compared to Kirmani or Engineer.
