Team

This team has to be encouraged and its core retained for getting back to the top of Test ranking again. The openers Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan have to be tried out for another 2 series if both are fit. As expected, both Ashwin and Jadeja perfomed well in this series. Only Irfan Pathan also has to be added to make the team with good lower order all-rounders. Ishant is not impressive enough to spearhead the attack. Umesh Yadav is a better choice, if he is fit.

DHONI THE GREAT CAPTAIN
by Ambrish Rupak on Mar 24, 2013 06:41 PM  | Hide replies

Dhoni again proved why he is the greatest Indian captain. Ganguly who advocated for rahane failed miserably and so is tendulkar. for some time indian team should have cricketers from small towns and cities who tend to play more for nation not for records.

If Captain can take the credit for the team's winning why is it that when the team loses, the blame is not on him even if makes mistakes and fails to do anything to inspire when the team was losing. So enjoy the success against a team which has been historically a strong cricketing nation without any such thinking. Small town, big town or religion or caste, will not make anyone great cricketer.

4-0 white wash is sweet , but against a very mediocre Australian Side ..Not that much tasty as it seems . The new Australian team is no where when compared to the old Australian team which had Hayden, gilchrist , Symonds , Pointing , Shane Warne , BretLee ,Gillespie , Mc Grath .

Difference was with the Youngsters who performed well for India .Well played Aswin,Vijay,Pujara,Ravinder Jadeja and Dhawan. Have to see how these young guns are going to perform outside India

British board bestows "Sir" to Greats...
by Michael Moore on Mar 24, 2013 06:27 PM  | Hide replies

British board bestows "Sir" to great Cricketers for valuable contributions. Like Richard Hadlee and Vivian Richards.

Did India produce great Cricketer to be bestowed with "Sir"?

Except personal records of Individual cricketer, what does Indian sportsmen contribute in Cricket?

If paki umpire aleem dar and lankan umpire dhramsena had NOT played for the british team, India and dhoni would have beatn England 3-1 or 2-1 surely! Shame BCCI brought the usless paki umpire again for the matches against aussies and if the brit umpire was not there, India wouyld have lost the last two matches too! shame BCCI invites uselsss and anti-indian umpires for our matches,Any way Boring &Poverty producing Tests and Ranji cricket must be Banned in interest of preventing wastiage of billions of working hours and to revent india becoing poorer and poorer in future too! shame patriots have not agitated even now to Ban Tests NOW, prevent wastage of billions of working hours! shame BCCI&crooked rulers!

Member of Commonwealth nations is not enough, Head of the State has to be the Queen of England! Otherwise knighthood is not given.

no...knighthood can be given......but the person cannot prefix his name with a Sir.......for eg. Sachin has been knighted but he cannot call himself Sir Sachin.......

That kind of honouring can be extended to foreigners under current british rule. But they can not be called Sir and I doubt if it can be called knighthood in that case. Some of the others not in commonwealth have also been knighted using the changed rule like Bill Gates. Aus have also amended their law and I think the knights from Aus can also no longer use 'Sir'.

Are you serious ? I don't know one Englishman of the present generation who cares about such Knighthoods anymore. Yeah they do joke about it in idle times & that's what makes me doubt if you are at all English. That aside, you really think that a knighthood still matters in India ? You got a funny bone though.

I mean British Cricket board and Australian Cricket board wants business; accordingly, encourages failing teams with wins domestically to sustain the Cricket mania and business.

Did any on the Indian sportsmen won "Sir"--this shows the real talent of Indian cricketers in Western minds.

brilliant performance by youngsters
by vinay on Mar 24, 2013 06:08 PM  | Hide replies

first of all congrats to ind team (n not merely dhoni) for incredible 4-0 victory.

team performed execptionally did well against all the hopes after losing it 2-1 to eng.
youngsters deserve the praise.
in the first test, dhoni came strong scoring double n took ind ahead.
in second, it was pujara doing brilliant double.
pujara performed exceptionally well in 4th also, in such a devil pitch, to guide ind to victory by remaining unbeaten.
in 3rd, it was dhawan whirlwind 187 easing out the first day washout. murli also had good support scoring 2 150 plus scores.

n the 4th one, a surprise one. ravindra jadeja who nwas called sir by many of his detractors. although being selected as batting allrounder, he performed brilliantly as bowler n scored crucial 43 in first inning.
such a good bowling performance by jadeja that although considered as a fifth bowler in ranking, he jumped to 2nd ranked bowler getting 24 wkts in the 4 matches. that also having killer instinct of having rival capt mostly.
bhuvi also performed in patches.
overall wonderful job. well done.

Most of the matches India won in all formats, Dhoni took the winning shot or atleast he was not not-out.
