Ishant would be a good bowler if he improves on his line and length. His tendency to bowl half pitch is miserable.India awaits its progress in to the number 1again when they take on the South African-the No. one Test team at present.
Basically, Ishant throws the ball hoping that it does something itself. No special skills involved- just basic of running in and bowling. Greats like Dale Steyn can make the ball talk under any conditions and with any type of ball
Ishant never look like getting wickets in recent times. He does not have control on which length he would like to bowl. Even the chart of all bowlers are quite tight, except him, as he bowls all over. Now with this mediocre Australia team, he can get away with that.
Come better teams and he will not even be able to do a "containment" job. Of course, in subcontinent you are not expected to get a five for, but at least you should bowl to get wickets. On contrary, Bhuvneshwar, though militry medium in pace, bowls in better areas and always look good to take wickets.
Ishant is around due to favors that Dhoni have become habitual of (and can continue doing as long as he is winning, courtsey to mediocrity of world cricket), and also other potential options are sturggling with injuries, and others like Dinda are no better.
Sometimes its difficult to except in an interview, that no one was found suitable. IShant is the same curious case.
