Punjab has extensively used pesticides on its soil for over 4 decades not. I would only tell that people are living in poison. The ground water they drink is just not suitable. The soil itself has become poisonous.
Pesticides and fertilizers are used to meet the growing demands of population, we need to have a limited population for the limited resources we have.
