If Sehwag trained, became fitter, played more matches, he could. But I doubt anything has changed in a week's time.

Yaar, he failed in ODIs and T20s as opener, a far easier job to do. Just by playing local matches no one can guarantee success in international level. Plus Rahane's defense and shot selection is v poor. Give him a chance in tests no doubt, but don't build up so much pressure on him.
