Dhawan's debut century is swashbuckling. but being a true supporter and believer and well wisher of Indian cricket , i would actually have loved him to play a more test match innings which would have showed and tested his temparement and technique .Such an innings would be good enough for him to secure his place for short to medium term but when i watched him bat ; I didnt feel confident enough that he can handle the seam , pace, swing and bounce in South african ; new zealand conditions .He flashed hard at away going deliveries and today morning he was out very softly.Perhaps this argument would prove to be a bit harsh to Dhawan fans but I would be watching this guy bat in the second innings and in the fourth test ; how he adapts to a more mature test match innings..like Murali vijay, pujara and kohli has played in this series..dont forget the fact that Dhoni has scored a brisk paced double hundred and many similar smaller innings in test matches but still people doubt his test match temparement..unless he scores big scores similar to what sehwag did for a lengthy frame of time averaging good overseas till 2008;lets not be gung ho about dhawan..he doesnt look complete test material..has weaknesses outside his off stump..lets keep fingers crossed on his performances henceforth after this dream debut.
Sikhar Dhawan has made a dream debut in the test matches, Cheteshwar Pujara has been in supreme form, Virat Kohli is the next contender to lead the Indian team, Murli Vijay has shown that he has the ability to defend when required and is also quick to change gears to become am aggressive batsman. The combination of these 4 gives Indian team a dream look and with talented players like Ajinkya Rahane sitting and waiting for his turn to prove his ability, it is mandatory for Sachin Tendulkar to to call it a day. The ere is absolutely no place for him because he is stopping the young blood from entering the team. It is not a secret that he will play his 200th test just to add another feather in his cap, not many are interested to know though. It by no means is an easy task to play for so long but then he was given enough liberty at times when he lived on his past glory.
It is the right time for Sachin to hang his boots and exit with dignity. He should not forget that when he scored his 100th international ton, not many were happy with his achievement as India lost the game to Bangladesh.
I hope Sachin will think seriously on this and take a sensible decision.
This performance & also Pujara's consistent scores prove that selectors' policy of persisting with non-performing senior players on the basis of their past records was totally wrong.
. He is extremely talented like Pujara and Kohli. It is not easy to play like this against Australia and particularly in a opening slots.
BIG QUESTION: Why it took such a long to give him a chance? Hope it will not happen what happen to MTiwary. Century in ODI and never gets chance ! ! Why No talent like Rohit got lots of chances? And this guy have to wait for age of 28? Even pujara had to wait for 25 ! !
When politics will go in all the field in India? .
keep these guys away from the team... their form was the main reason for india's downslide. esp against Eng, Vj and dhawan wud have done better than viru and gg. i remember the kolkatta test, weere gg ran out viru and the in-form Pujara. it turned the match against us. keep out gautam.
