Time for Sachin to go
by Ajeet Singh on Mar 16, 2013 11:12 PM  | Hide replies

Sikhar Dhawan has made a dream debut in the test matches, Cheteshwar Pujara has been in supreme form, Virat Kohli is the next contender to lead the Indian team, Murli Vijay has shown that he has the ability to defend when required and is also quick to change gears to become am aggressive batsman. The combination of these 4 gives Indian team a dream look and with talented players like Ajinkya Rahane sitting and waiting for his turn to prove his ability, it is mandatory for Sachin Tendulkar to to call it a day. The ere is absolutely no place for him because he is stopping the young blood from entering the team. It is not a secret that he will play his 200th test just to add another feather in his cap, not many are interested to know though. It by no means is an easy task to play for so long but then he was given enough liberty at times when he lived on his past glory.

It is the right time for Sachin to hang his boots and exit with dignity. He should not forget that when he scored his 100th international ton, not many were happy with his achievement as India lost the game to Bangladesh.

I hope Sachin will think seriously on this and take a sensible decision.

I truly accept the fact that he has contributed a lot to Indian cricket but that era is gone and give other young players chance

We all know where the match is headed
by Gurjot Singh on Mar 16, 2013 01:22 AM

Despite the loss of day 1, this match will end on day 4 or 1st session of 5th day with a massive win for India. Australia will be all out within the 1st hour on Saturday. India will score close to 600. Right around tea on day 4, India will declare. Australia will end day four by losing 3 or 4 wickets. we will wrap up the match in 1st session on day 5.
This is an ill prepared Australian team for Indian condition. The series to look forward to is the one between SA and us that will determine the best test team.

INDIA MUST SHORE UP SLIP CATCHING ON LONG TERM BASIS
by damodaran mohan on Mar 15, 2013 07:41 PM  | Hide replies

At the end of 2nd day, India just nose ahead....unless India winds up the Aussie innings in the first hr. there could be trouble with Stev Smith still on the crease. We have seen this fellow in IPL and is capable of taking away the game from India.India bowled well to-day but catching let them down.Fletcher-Dhoni & co. will have to do some serious long term plan on "slip-catching" which is letting team India.Virat Kohli is missing catches virtually in every match in the slips.Given his nature--a bit restless, lack of alernes & concentration ... he doesn't appear to be right candidate for the slips. Pujara whop appears to concentrate better and looks more serious type might be better and even sunny feels so. So, it is time for team India to give some serious thought on the matter.Or even Murali Vijay could be a candidate.

... no Jadeja is too good an athelete fielder to be wasted in slips..he is required for quick throws, runs outs etc...it is not clear what Fletcher is doing..! .. in fact Kohli's balance also looks inadequate to quickly react for a reflex catch...

IF India bowls the Aussie tomorrow morning quickly and plays at least 5/6 sessions then good chance for them. Ideally if they bat only once and take remaining 13 wickets in 3 to 4 sessions then real chance for a win. Good luck team India.

That is an unfair comment for sports person. It takes enormous commitment & hard work to reach international level. They deserve to make money as career of sports person is short, however playing for only money is questionable in a team game.Sachin may be stretching his inning but was a gem to watch from 1995-2000.

All players of every country play for money. thatswhy they are called professionals. this man seems to not knowing this simple fact. what he does not know is this is not Indian team. but only BCCI team. which is not controlled by sports ministry. BccI makes a lot of money and is the richest sports body in the world. It is conntrolled by people who have never played cricket but enjoy money earned by BCCI Then why should players play free. considering these facts Rao;s comment is utter foolish to say the least

It was a great team till 2011.The rebuilding takes time & all nations have gone through this phase for few years like Aussies & England, while West indies has not been able to come back for over two decades

You can see the difference in approach of teams traveling to India. How many times India crossed 250 in Australia & England? Only once in 16 innings While Aussies have already done it 3rd time & England won the series.

India has been drubbed and blanked badly on foreign tours recently whereas on tailor-made Indian wickets even a mediocre spinner like Jadeja (who was toyed during two t20 world cups) bowls well.

Same way the powerful team and #1 in the world too, crumbled in England and Australia.

I am sure it was a match fixing..

By the way what made you think Aussie is Powerful? They are full of new commers and Mighty Hussey of Aussie batting has retired too..

Grow up Sridhar Rao
