Shikhar Dhawan is in the side because of bankruptcy of talent in India, not because of his own positive performances. Its because Gambhir and Sehwag are woofully out of form and there are no promising opening batsmen on horizon.

shikhar dhawan is good replacement for sehwag, plays similar type of cricket..abhinav mukund / ajinkya are also equally good
Not sure why Dhawan is being preferred over Rahane. Rahane has a first class average of 62.04 versus Dhawan's average of 45.79. The difference is so huge that Rahane would be an obvious choice. Dhoni knows that if he gives chance to Rahane, he will seal the place permanently like what Pujara did. He doesn't want any players in the team who would outperform him.

Rahane has been picked as a middle order batsman. Also his performance in England ODIs against Steve Finn dint help him much!

May be in order to add a left handers, coz only Jadeja & Ohja are the left handers in the current squad

It is riduculous. Dhoni has proved himself as a very good captain and wicketkeeper who also performs with the bat when stalwarts fail

Rahane has this habit of throwing his wicket and make it a joke;he laughs when he gets out.Shikhar is a much serious player.

when sourabh ganguly was selected in the test squad every body doubted his potential. he went on to become the finest captain of india. everybody ate their words. everyone should get a chance to show his talent. there should not be permanent place for players like sachin or sehwag.

Rahane could have been obvious choice over above Shikhar But don't forget MSD scored 200 runs and already have 2 -0 lead in the series so he has right to do any thing which he likes. After Dravid, Laxman, Jahir,Gambhir , shewag now it is the turn of Harvajan , and lastly Dhoni will kick out SACIN TENDULKAR end of the series. BE READY SACHIN'S FAN
