Clarke's problem
by Harish Pandit on Mar 13, 2013 08:39 PM

Clarke does not have the team to be no. 1 again. After losing their world class players, the Aussies under Pointing carried on inertia. But pretty much like Windies, who slowly lost steam after losing their famous quartet, the Aussies are losing. In this aspect i would compare Clarke to Ritchie Richardson. A very good if not a great player, elected to carry a mantle , that he may not be able to.

Shane Watson is a the second coming of Ian Botham. A talented and explosive player, who can single handedly win matches with bat and ball. But unlike Botham , he is not that gifted with the ball and is primarily devastating in onde-dayers and 20-20 matches. A player with that aura is bound to be a highly indivdualistic.

This is the best time for Sachin to call it a day.
by Indian Guru on Mar 13, 2013 04:18 PM

Sachin should plan to retire after the Mohali Game or at the end of Australia series..

This is the best opportunity to retire from a winning series. Their may not be a better opportunity than this to retire.

Sachin should focus on sports development in the country. He is already a Rajya Sabha member and can contribute immensely to the growth of all sports in the Country.

He can also be the ICC Cricket Brand Ambassador and take Cricket across to other Countries.

The opportunity to excel should not be frittered away for few matches as the focus would be more on his current performance.

Couple of bad performances can fritter away all the advantage he has earned through his career.

Commend Arthur's Transformational aim !!!
by Raja Srinivasan on Mar 13, 2013 12:19 PM  | Hide replies

Micky Arthur (Coach) has taken a selfless and bold "CULTURE DESIGN INITIATIVE' aimed at TRANSFORMING the Australian Cricket Team at a time when many are clueless and without ideas/strategies.

As a stake in the ground and part of a comprehensive plan to give a NEW shape to the Team Australia's Culture, his first action needs to be COMMENDED until time proves otherwise. It is an 'out of the box decision' about players' attitude and team culture comparable to the 'Data context in Enterprise IT setting' and 'routines for new tech initiatives' where staff skills and Organizational culture are the key to transformation. That Arthur, given his back-ground, adopted the new initiative may just be coincidental but it is striking. He has adopted "Sports Analytics" just as "Big Analytics" in IT. Again, coincidental but the timing and conviction are striking.

Arthur's is a NEW INNOVATIVE STRATEGY in the game of CRICKET and the importance will be visible and felt by the Australian Players only. That's where it will impact most and that's where the ultimate measure of success will be judged.

It has come at an opportune moment for the GAME itself although critics will say that it lacks the sensitivity for players stuck in a different path.

Arthur's success will define the BRAND of

Contd: Arthur's success will define the BRAND of the game itself in future and his name will be etched in GOLD for bringing about a new trend (what we call game changer in Tech and Economy) in the arena of SPORTS itself. Arthur is on the threshold of carving his name in the history of Cricket while also becoming the 'Papabili' of Sports.

A Brave Decision.....
by adam smith on Mar 13, 2013 11:49 AM  | Hide replies

....only Australia could have taken, booting out 4 members of a team. But that is how champion teams are built...by taking a no nonsense attitude.

Any chance of this ever happening in an Indian team? Fat chance ....in a team comprising of prima donnas.
