I have been going through the various comments and replies. Finally I think that Gavaskar, Kapil dev, Sreenath, vengsarkar, kirmani, Bedi, Sandeep patil, etc, etc, should be brought back into the Indian team

the veteran cricket team (over 32 Years) of india can easily beat the so called young non performers of indian crciket team. its the zaheers, virender, sachin, gambhir, who have won the world cups and brought glory...
I see lot of comments that certain player should retire because he is old. And some others support for another player just because he is from a particular region, state or he belongs to a particular religion or caste. When are we going to grow up? How does it matter who the player is as long as he performs better than any other in waiting. Forget about Sachin's enormous experience and his advise, pressure on opponents due to his presence, his bowling skills and many other qualities. Can anyone in India say for sure that if given a chance they will consistently score more runs than sachin? Unfortunately even the best players in our current line up cannot say that. And we want to discourage some one like Sachin who has the enthusiasm like a kid to play the sport even at this age. I am sure that our current generation and the next will take this as a challenge and learn from sachin and become a greate cricketer.

I totally agree with you. Unfortunately it is a truth that we have to accept.
When are we Indians going to become selfless and think about our country first. Nobody deserves a place in the team unless they perform consistently. There should be no change to that policy. And on the argument that Sehwag is a match winner. Sehwag certainly has abilities and he has performed good in 1 out of 20 games. The game is not won by a single person but contribution of a single person do matter when it is a big one like how Sehwag has delivered few times. But the fact is that if you spent one tenth of that money on another budding cricketer then he would win more matches for India. Or if we are desperate then we could even fix the match with that kind of money.

ALL are wrong. It was series of Dec 99- jan 2000, led by Sachin and Oz won it 3-0.But Sachin was man of the series and Dravid & Ganguly flopped in it.Laxman played well but he was made Opener as Opener Devang Gandhi failed along with S. Ramesh.

It still will have no outcome & great players like Sehwag who can contribute at number-4 will be sacrificed for an old lion who can't hunt anymore

Old Lion has better form and technique than sehwag. Let him prove how he plays at no.4 in domestic then only he can get chance.
Dhoni is not at all best captain, having only 4 or 5 test out side India, and being a good captain he should honor for the seniors, sehwag is a tremendous batsman, and after Sachin he is only who can attack on bowlers very badly.
