Selectors are saying Jaffer is now too old to survive for next 4/5 years. This is ridiculus. If he can perform today and for next one year, it is fine.
He is the best opener in the country and not in the team.

Rest assured that he will get the maximum chances (like Rahul sharma) - after all Mumbai cricketers get the best treatment even if they are sub-standard (eg. Kanitkar the one-match wonder ) !!
I dont understand .. everyone is so critical of Vijay's selection but gung ho on Rahane as an opener ? The guy has NEVER opened in first class cricket. If he is realy keen to open in test matches, he should have been playing for Mumbai as an opener. If he isnt gutsy to open in Ranji trophy, no point in competing for that position in test matches.

Dude ..Vijay came into the team just due to his Chennai connections..there is no two ways about it.Incidently ppl like Jaffer didnt get that much of a chance ..still he has a test record which is not too bad.And regarding Rahane ..have you ever gone through Ranji scorecards? His first class debut was as an opener against Karachi team who were the Pak champions in 2007.Also he scored a century in that match in karachi.
he has got all good except few. 1>get out to slow balls 2>tries to play lofted shots doesnot have much energy to cross the fields sometimes due to slow balls (tries to time it and use the pace but this is when he is different from sehwag, sehwag can power it at the last fraction of second even) 3>I would like him to play more ground shots not lofted still he is productive 4> need to play more patient and focused to become test player
why they are these coke people putting Chand into ego trip through coke commercial and in collision path. While rahane and kohli watch. I rather say thumbs up drink commercial is more positive and less manipulative.
Remind me of how shiela(delhi cm) brain. She says even her daughter is not secure in Delhi when people who ruined delhi culture are her own kind. British could control the moghul culture by keeping them in old delhi but refugees(or people from paki-india region) arrived after british left and could not be controlled.
I beg to differ from the article written above. I feel Rahane has been over-bloated. Pl.tell me his big innings in ODIs? Wasim Jaffer is a much better choice as opener, even for South Africa tour. He has solid defense and in Ranji, scored more than Sachin, including a century in the finals. All the best to Indian team in Mohali. Australia is like a house that is divided and it cannot stand.

Well if you are going to bring 35yr old jaffer, then why not bring dravid and laxman also back. We will then definitely win in SA.

Very True! Rahane might have done well in local matches, but in international ODI, T20 etc he has not impressed at all. Jaffer though had his chances and got nearly 40 matches in which his limitations were exposed. So better to give Vijay - Dhavan some time before looking for alternatives.
