SEHWAG NEVER CLAIMED THAT HE IS AN OPENER.HE STARTED AS A MIDDLE ORDER BATSMAN AND PERFORMED WELL IN THE MIDDLE ORDER.AS INDIAN MIDDLE ORDER WAS STRONG AND THERE WERE NO GOOD OPENERS,HE WAS PUSHED UP THE ORDER. IF HE PLAYED IN MIDDLE ORDER HE WOULD HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL ABROAD ALSO.AS HE WAS YOUNG HE GOT SOME SUCCESS IN OPENING,BUT AT 34 IT IS DIFFICULT TO GET THE SAME SUCCESS. I FEEL THAT IF HE PLAYS IN THE MIDDLE ORDER,HE WILL BE A BIG SUCCESS IN SA ,ENGLAND OR AUSTRALIA.
We all know that Virender Sehwag is a class player and less fly going through a bad phase in his career. Going by his abilities and records it is imminent that he will come back strongly because form is temporary and class is permanent.
so can sehwag. As a batsmen, sehwag is far better than saurab. Of course what he doesnt have is the bcci head backing him, the way dalmia backed ganguly inspite of 3 years of non performance, even going to the extent of including him in the team as a "all rounder" (dalmia must have had a personalised definition of all rounder i.e someone who can either bat and bowl or be in the dalmia camp).
Same technique, careless attitude and flaws are now well known across the bowling world in cricket. Even in T20 he is sorted out and people can easily take his wicket without much effort. This happens to everyone, but those who are good manage to overcome their shortcomings. Sehwag has not shown this yet and will be interesting to see if he can alter his game methods.
Viru , pals hve gone it is a golden rule change is slow n swift . He should see it. The ppl around him r nt as were before . Happens But no one can match his CLASS as class is permanent form is temporary
Sehwag is a true Indian just like the rest of the team selected by the Indian- selectors. He was not performing for the last 24 months. He and gambhir should convince the selectors that they are good again to play for team India. He is of course welcome again and again.
sehwag hit a century on debut against South Africa in Bloemfontein in November 2001, batting at No 6. that was when SA bowlers were on top. whats that?
This is Nature's aging process. (Alertness, eyesight, catches, etc, fade away with age). So, thank Viru and Gauti for their past performance and contribution to Indian Cricket. Look for New Openers and develop them.
pay srinivasan and he will make sure sehwag is back in team... bhajji and vijay made comeback to team without doing anything extraordinary in domestic matches and jadeja continues to play while india's best spinners at present ojha and mishra are no where in contention... this is all due to fact that inclusion of likes of bhajji and vijay and jadeja fianncially benefits bcci top crook srinivasan...
