Heros not much recognized
by Suresh Jey Ram on Jan 03, 2014 12:26 PM

Viru might join the list of heros like Mohinder Amarnath and VVS, who have contributed much, but eclipsed by the presence of their more illustrious contemporaries.

New comers too deserve a chance!!
by Ramanan on Mar 10, 2013 12:03 PM

Newcomers like Rahane and Dhawan who have done well in domestic cricket and have impressed in limited opportunities at international level too need to be given chances.

how ro select final 11
by dineshhassija on Mar 10, 2013 05:32 AM

it is impossible to frame any well defined rules. Even parents have preference for one child among two or more children then how could others be different...moreover, if we meet 10 people, each of us may be comfortable with different depending upon the judgement of every individual...every decision could be criticised..

FORM.. CLASS....HABITS... LUCK.....POLITICS.....---II

(contd from I)Second of course is Sehwag’s inherent nature of taking things lightly always believing that it was a matter of one innings as the cliché goes ‘form is temperory and class permanent’.Third, Sehwag’s total indifference to team’s performance even after two humiliating series losses didn’t seem to hurt the sense of pride to make Sehwag or Gamhir to motivate them to perform for the sake of playing for the country. In fact the off-field news from Eng & Aus of dissentions, bickering during press conferences…..it was clear things were not hunky dory and team was not united. Add to that a former selector’s bombshell in the middle of England series about their proposal during Aus series to remove Dhoni as captain and give it to Sehwag was rejected by BCCI chief. It clearly point to the fact that there could always be more than what meets the eyes and why would a Sehwag have bothered to improve ? It is obvious but for the BCCI chief, Dhoni would have been sacked but now the same Dhoni in the docks seems to have re-invented himself ! On the other hand an out of form Sehwag who could have been rewarded inspite of poor form not just missed the captaincy Bus but also career Bus for good. It is difficult to sit on judgement between Dhoni and Sehwag as to who was right or who was wrong but lady ‘luck’ Dhoni seems to have in abundance while poor Sehwag lost out on it. But luck also favours

Remember his match-saving 152 at Adelaide in 2008 also came after a prolonged period of axing too.So lets hope this axing too does him some good

The ONLY way to mum opposition is by playing strong - where Sehwag lacks. Although it may not be his nature, but as an opener, he should have played sensibly & avoided loose shots - which is trade mark Sehwag.
In the Professional Cricket - it is not possible to survive just with an attcking bat - but survival till the ball looses shine & bowlers loose tempo - is a must for an opener - which was not followed by Sehwag. He did not bother to mould his style as per requirement of situation has been the main reason for the axe.

Sehwag was one of the best ever match winner opener for India and like all good things in life perhaps it has also to come to an end one day.Well, chances of his making a comeback looks very remote. So, the chances of the star opening pair of Sehwag-Gambhir taking to the field again also looks remote although Gambhir still could make a comeback but certainly doesn’t belong to Sehwag’s class. Given this background Sehwag’s sudden exit is of prime interest. But how did it happen ? Why this sudden end to one of the greatest openers India ever produced ? Given hush-hush way of BCCI working, the lack of transparency, the opaque selection process etc. it is next to impossible to explain away a cricketer’s career graph to 100% satisfaction. So, the only way for we, the ordinary cricket fans do not have inside informations is to attempt a logical analysis of 5the reasons based on the real time happenings in the field and on whatever little inside informations good or bad trickling out in the open in the media. Coming to reasoning, first, our system is to blame to some extent which allows an established player long rope to hang himself with. If only the selectors issue timely warnings to non-performing ‘greats’, perhaps they could do necessary introspection and apply course correction. Sehwag was such a big player he never expected he would meet this fate and so was very casual not seriously bothering to improve his performance even when he was p
