In my opinion a player who is very good in one format should be stayed there and should not play the other formats too much. The abilities required is different based on the format. For eg proper technique and temparament is needed in tests while rotating strike and the power to play big shots needed in limited overs (ODI and T20).Even though Pujara can play in a brisk pace in tests i am not sure he will be that effective in ODIs.Mostly he is playing down the ground shots which may not be effective in T20s.
Lets not get too ahead of us. Pujara is a great batsman and seems to be doing everything right currently. However let him prove his prowess overseas on seaming and bouncy wickets. No. 3 batsman has to be able to play in all conditions, like Dravid, Vengsarkar and Mohinder did for years. it si not correct to say that Pujara is mentally tougher than Kambli and Rowe. Anyone who has double and triple hundreds though short lived cannot get there without being mentally tough. for all you know Kambli could be the toughest mentally compared to all as he made so many come backs. Perhaps he got a raw deal from the selectors. regarding Rowe, well I think the kerry Packer stint may have put a set back to his career as only few players survived after that due to regulations etc.
Let Pujara play his game and let us hope he stays in the team for a long time as he has shown immense temperament and is hungry for runs. Vinod Kambli only has to blame himself for his debacle. Watch him releasing his frustration on ABP news as the cricket expert.

100% agreed with u. in fact, talent like pujara cud hv been considered long back but hyped rohit was favoured for so long. many deserving players like pujara got delayed break n like manoj tiwari didnt get the breaks at all. even in odi, pujara has to wait in que behind useless talented(!) rohit. n players like tiwari doesnt get a look at all inspite of scoring an odi hundred.

So what are you saying people from Maharashtra count for nothing, Most of the big time freedom fighter's are from Maharashtra and Bengal. any by the way Gujarati's are not knows for their fighting prowess, otherwise they would not have let somebody loot the somnath temple 17 times. It took a Maharashtrian to show the invaders how to fight back, gujrathis just talk too much.
Vinod Kambli was one of the most talented batsman for India. After a dream start at international leval he became star. He used to considered even better than Sachin. But he could not handle the the fame he acheived and lost his focus from cricket. But Pujara is totally different. Even such a great start, he is very focused to to his game. He looks hungry for run. He looks humbl. Another thing is, he coud not find a place in ODI team. So his feet are still on land. He knows he have to work hard to be the part of all form in Team India. So he will not go to Kambli's way.

Kambli no doubt was one of the most talented and a very attractive batsman. He had come up both in career and life the hard way. But one he made it to the top he was trapped by the fame and flashlights which he must have never ever expected. Spend money the wrong way. Spent time in wrong places (need not be mentioned) and lost sight of his goals and the reason he actually was there for. The downfall was fast. He went up the staircase and came down the lift. Maybe family values and upbringing played a big role here (with due respects to his parents) In contrast Sachin had a strong family with lots of values to support him which helped him keep his feet on ground. It was destined to be that way for Kambli. Unfortunately for the Indian cricket team and its fans. Kambli, Sadanand Vishwanath, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan are some of the talented people we lost to the glitter of fame and quick fortune.
