No way cook is going to plan so long.. 7000runs will require 7 years of topclass cricket which is not possible. Also test cricket has left no future and i doubt how much matches will he play yearly... any everytime he is not going to score 100 / 50
yes in dreams cook may overtake tendulkar's record,it is premature, almost amateurish statement made by KP bcoz ,cook has to sustain his run making form for another 5-6 years to think about getting near to tendulkar's record in tests,in one day cricket there is no chance for cook to overtake him. tendulkar played well in one dayers when he was a bit down in tests. cook might not be fortunate because the 50 over format is losing its edge, and in his "old age" he might have to survive on t20 (highly unlikely)
Longevity is Tendulkar's strength. No one can remain in form for so long. Granted Tendulkar had the backing of the public as well as the selectors but he didnt go on a prolonged batting slump for him to be dropped anytime during this career. It is difficult to match that kind of a long career. He just had injury breaks but no protracted form slumps. I don't think his record will be broken.
tendi's record will never be broken. he has hardly won matches for india. ccok , sanga , clark , gayle, misbah , smith, gayle, amla etc have all single handedly won matches for their country.

shutup antinational. tendulkar has won more matches for india than all of them rolled together.
mis-BAH - he cost the finals a couple of times. sanga has been good, but certainly no comparison to tendulkar. clark/ gayle are pretty much potential wasted.

KP badly needed his captian's support, so this comparison and praise..but cook is noway will near to tendulkar's record..
I am sure Tendulkar will be the first one to congratulate person that breaks his records. KP seems to forget that Cook is only hallway there and another 7 years and 92 tests is a long way off. I have just checked Tendulkar's and Cook's test records at Cricinfo and find that even such a uggestion is premature.

It looks how far he carry with the same form, if he continue to play the way he plays now, it is possible that, cook can break the records at least in Test matches.
