Dhoni

We are winning because there are no any good batsmen and bowlers in opposite team. In west Indies we are missinig Lara, Richards, Hayned, Greenige, Lloyed, Marshal, Holdinig, Garner. Same in case of Australia. There is no Gilchrist and Hayden. Who had helped Australia to win 3 world cups.

why generations should not be compared due to some logic
by sarath m on Jul 05, 2013 09:00 PM

during kapil and gavaskar time we won 1983 champion of champions memorable one against pak defeded 126 during those times india srilanka pakisthan were treated with humiliation(defeats) against aus eng sa west indies only india laid the foundation gavasker played marshal lilly imrankhan with out helmet they were with lots of guts. Now india is very strong compared with other countries with out any kind of professional play nothing great we feel beating eng aus sa westindies as they are weak compared to 1980's teams dont compare your dady times with your time that time petrol is 10rs now 100rs you will be a fool if you compare

WHY?
by Nanda PK on Jun 30, 2013 09:49 AM  | Hide replies

"Generations cannot be compared, eras were different so it's not fair to compare" - why Mr. Gavaskar - the generation and era was the same for other cricket playing nations also, and some of them were so good that the present captaincy of Dhoni is not a match for those captains.

Captaincy
by Jomesh George on Jun 29, 2013 12:38 PM

Dhoni is the best Indian Captain in limited overs cricket no doubt of that.If we compare him with Ganguly apart from the WC final berth of 2003 and the unforgettable Natwest trophy triumph India couldn't achieve much in multi nation tournaments. But Ganguly was better in test cricket.Even Dravid who is considered to be the captain of India's heaviest debacle in WC cricket was a better test captain who won a series in England. But if u consider captaincy in a particular tournament or series only one name will come into our mind.Kapil Dev of 1983

Dhoni Incomparable - Greatest Captain Ever
by Bigtribe on Jun 28, 2013 08:21 PM  | Hide replies

1. Oh! Dhoni has traveled beyond Gavaskar.
2. Dhoni is incomparable and the greatest captain India has ever produced.
3. Funny aspect or sick mentality of it is that none of the past captains seem to give in on Dhoni.

.Let us accept India team is playing very well now under Dhoni's captaincy because ultimately jo jeeta vahi sikandar and result matters but in Cricket things changes very quickly.Hero becomes zero and vice versa.pls recall Jaheer Abbas finished the career of three best spinners of India.

Gavaskar does not want to let Ganguly down
by NAGRAJ KV on Jun 28, 2013 04:26 PM

Undoubtedly Dhoni is the best ever Indian captain every Indian knows this. But SG is indebbted to Ganguli as his son played for Nengal and India under Ganguli. So he just wants to be greatful to Ganguli.

@reliable traders: some people are really jobless. i am a big fan of sachin, but i hate to see a player like gavaskar falling to sachin's feet, or not criticizing him even when he is wrong, or call him G_OD. see, when people compare players of different generations, it carries no meaning. the best somebody can say is like bradman "he reminds me of my own batting" or viv richards "sachin reminds me of gavaskar". people with self proclaimed intellect will start comparing coz most of them are jobless.

so shall i name highest scores of various batsmen (especially those who are not specialist batsmen) in all countries and all venues and deduce from such scores whether they are all better than sachin laxman dravid ganguly etc etc...

with your logic, lets agree that all centuries made in same batting conditions. still kumble has one century outside the subcontinent.

so what? even bhajji made 2 centuries against nz in tests when we were in dire conditions while others failed. that makes him a better batsman than sachin dravid laxman....

what overseas? first let them succeed on home grounds then we will see about overseas...

btw we saw overseas what happened to them in aus and eng...so their batting quality we know...they were exposed totally to even mediocre aus and eng bowlers...i am saying this because we played those 2 whitewashed series after 2008 and you have informed me what quality bowling remained in the world after that..

yes, even ashwin scored more than dhoni and laxman in australia whitewash. sachin at 38 was the top-2 scorer for india in both whitewashes. dravid at 37 was top-1 scorer for india in england series. how come ashwin's entire series score was higher than dhoni's? what happened to his mental strength, attitude and thecrap which you wrote yesterday? haha, even dhoni knows that he is a dud.

dhoni performed very well in VB series of 2008. India was almost out of the series because of Sachin's failure (again, your logic). Sachin stole the credit by performing only in the finals.

Now, Dhoni also did the same in 2011 world cup. He scored 107 runs till finals with a horrible strike rate, just for personal records. when the going was tough against SA in Nagpur, he choked and got out. India also lost 6 wickets for 20 or 30 runs. He promoted himself in the final just to take credit, even though there were better batsmen who could finish it off.

I dont see much difference in the above cases :)

difference is sachin is opener and opened in both...dhoni did not...

sachin was a failure in league matches in tri series and we reached best of 3 because of dhoni gambhir yuvraj rohit and others

dhoni played down the order again in 2011 this time around fortunately the openings were good and he did not get the chance to play more no of deliveries like he could in vb series because early wickets had fallen...if early wickets had fallen in wc 2011 then dhoni would have got more deliveries to face like he got in the finals and scored more such innings more 50s if not 100s...

there is a LOT of difference in the above cases :)

it is all in credit stealing that dhoni is an expert. in the crucial matches against australia and pakistan he was a total flop. as i said above, his strike rate was horrible and he played a selfish game. i may be mistaken about him getting out against south africa. but again look at his srtike rate, 57.1?? he plays so slow many times that other batsmen are pressurized to play shots. they may succeed or not, but MCs like you credit dhoni for that. when the going is easy, he promotes himself at the top of the order to steal credit. if it is tough going, he simply will come as the last recognized batsman, play some eda_teda shots, create pressure on the other batsman and remain not out to steal credit.

ok, mistake noted about dhoni being not out. but remainingcrap belongs to you. you are a lowIQMC who pointed out yesterday that i claimed dhoni had failed v BD and sehwag scored 200 in that match. so you dont have moral rights to call me names.
