BCCI MUST ACCEPT THE IMPROVED VERSION OF DRS USED IN CT
by damodaran mohan on Jun 14, 2013 11:58 AM

Actually BCCI's opposition to DRS in the past indeed had some merit as the accuracy of 'hot spot',ball traverse path on lbw etc. were found to be questionable. However there appears to be considerable improvement in accuracy on these aspects as seen in the CT decisons. Given this background it was ironical that India against WI made best use of DRS and got decisions which turned the match in favor of India. There is absolutely no doubt that DRS technology has improved and accuracy is very close to near 100%. it is foolish to expect for 100% accuracy but the fact remains DRS reduces human errors significantly and ensures near perfect decisions. Introduction of DRs will result in improvement in umpiring standards as they would be exposed in case of wrong decisions. Incidentally Pakistani umpire Alim Dar got two decisions against India wrong which were reversed by DRS.On the other hand SL umpire Dharamsena got two decisions ‘confirmed’ by the DRS in the ENG-Aus match. So in a way DRS Tests umpires skill too.Given the improvement brought in the technology BCCI must change their stand and accept DRS along with all others who have already accepted the improved version of the technology.

JD has quietly assumed the controls of BCCI.He will represent India in the ICC conference. To gain some popularity he may agree to the DRS which was mailnly objected to by some sr. players of Indian cricket who tend to get out LBW in the initial couple of overs.

What are you speaking? It was Dhoni who said that DRS is adulterated technology. Dravid & Sehwag were supportive of DRS even with its errors. It was Sachin who actually supported DRS with Hot Spot and Snickometer so that there would be very minimum chance for wrong decisions. So according to you, Dhoni is the person who tends to get out LBW in the initial couple of overs?

on match fixing.
DRS etc are not the things that matter.
Let us not permit any diversions or dilution. Let us also prevent previously tainted characters from taking over the rains of the BCCI or other sports bodies. Let us ensure that the BCCI or any other sports body is not left to the administrators or the other big wigs to control or only the Govt to supervise. We must have a body of citizens of unquestionable integrity to oversee and supervise all the sports bodies so that the nation's honour is safeguarded. Otherwise the scams, bad selection, sexual exploitation of women will continue unabated and we will be always deprived of our deserved place in sports, internationally.

Is it really cricket ? No Cricket has long back been divorced from the game of cricket. When money comes in with it come greed, corruption and scams. That has happened with cricket too and from long back, ever since the money started coming in. The administrators were always enjoying, albeit at a lower scale. As the stakes rose, the administrators had to involve the others that mattered. That included not just the ex-players but also the Judges/other Hi Fi characters who were appointed to investigate the scams. One recollects the scam that The Great Mr. Justice Yashwant Vishnu Chandrachud investigated when Mr. Jayawant Lele was either the Treasurer or Secretary. What was the result of the investigation?

Sadly the journalism was not as intrusive and investigative then, but thenagain how much does it take to get the jounalists on your side? Few pegsof good whisky and a piece of chicken ? Perhaps now they have raised their price too.
Along with the administrators a whole lot of respected ex-cricketers got involved as the time went on. Then the stakes rose higher and even the regular players had to be involved. The result is what we see today, the tears and denials of great cricketers not withstanding. The nation (or was it the administrators & journalists combine with the influence of some of the ex-cricketers) sadly denounced the only cricketer who tried to blow the whistle. ....
Continued in next mail .....

Dhoni in favor of DRS
by Jacob on Jun 13, 2013 08:25 PM  | Hide replies

Dhoni was always hinting he is in favor of DRS but the mumbai lobby in BCCI wanted to protect sachin from such decisions.

Now that he is retired from one day i say drs should be implemented in Onedays atleast. When sachin retires from tests atleast DRS will be adopted fully.

DRS will be adopted fully when your BCCI mother pays the remaining money to ICC.

Jacob, it was Sachin who actually supported DRS with Hot Spot and Snickometer so that there would be very minimum chance for wrong decisions. BCCI dint want to support it because it is costly and does not believe in it. It is better if you use sense while writing stuff, not hatred.
