In my view, the purpose is not defeated. The purpose is to prepare the non performing players a longer stinct for the upcoming SA tour. While the rested players are expected to put up a decent show, the same is not true for players like rohit, raina and Shikar needs more matches to be handy during the SA tour. Pujara is a test match material, why is he here for a ODI series is a wonder. I guess with the series pocketed in India's favor, they might try with Rasool and Rahane. No matter what the long term purpose, it is important to win the series first, so there is nothing wrong in fielding your best team to do that.

next 2 matches may see Mohit,Rahane, Pujara and Rasool in action. So point in blaming fielding the best XI till the series is won. You are right in ur views Mr.Ashik
I totally agree with the views in this article.Zimbabwe could have served a better purpose. I strongly believe that Parvez Rasool should have played all 5 matches. It would have done a whole lot of good to his experience and expertise. Batsmen should have been rotatrd. Pujara missed out on the champions trophy and the tri-series. Too long a break for a batsman of his calibre - if it is at all that he fits in the longer scheme of things.
Actually, we should have sent A or B team or even C team (below 18) who also would have easily killed the minnows. All this run or wicket or even the record business is fore the sake of records only!
this was for the 1st time kohli got an opportunity to prove himself as a captain at intl level... if he gives chances to freshers it is likely that team dont do well.... so his reputation as a captain was at risk.... selectors should have retained dhoni as captain and rested players like kohli, ashwin .... cos karthik , rohit sharma are relatively fresh for this season... well i would say intention was right but implementation was little off target....
here many r saying ind shiud play the best sideto beat zimb!!! now the tour itself is a learning tour for all the newcomers. whats the use of having raina n rohit who hv been playing since last 6-7 years. everybody knows how good(?) or bad they r. the series is for trying the untried youngsters. gv them chance else ppl like frustrated raydu got diverted him to icl. n dont think that zimb team wud defeat our youngsters' team. try all the players like razool, shami, rahane, pujara, mohit.
Reserves are meant to play if some one is injured or not playing up to the mark. why u have not highlighted your foregone conclusion before the start of the series???Do not waste ur and our time with these kind of articles

Nobody asked you to waste your time. If your time is so precious why did you waste it by going through this article?
If some one falls sick or not playing up to mark, reserves will be used. Why u have not highlighted your foregone conclusion before the start of series??
Winning is a habit my friend. If you don't know that then stop writing columns. If by playing reserves India lost to Zimbabwe then you would be the first guy to criticize the Indian team. Now series is won-- so if they do not play the reserves in the remaining 2 matches then your argument is vindicated. But timing of your column shows you are another dumb news writer.

Boss you can call zimbabwe minnows 3 years back. this team consistently scored nearly 100 run partnerships at the top for 2 matches. Middle order is not doing its job. Once they find it going they can give a run for your money.
