Indian youngsters in top 10
by Manoj Adwani on Jul 23, 2013 08:51 AM

Is it a coincidence that youngsters like Cheteshwar Pujara and Pragyan Ojha, who have stuck to the basics and not changed their style of batting and bowling in the IPL are amongst the top-10 from India in the batting and bowling ICC test rankings?
Pujara with his patient style of batting showing loads of concentration while batting and waiting for the opportunity for the lose ball to punish has shown that with traditional style of batting one can still succeed on any kind of wicket. Even at such an early stage of his career he has got a remarkable batting average and eventhough most of his runs have come on sub-continent wickets he has got the potential to succeed on the fast tracks of foreign pitches.
Similarly, Pragyan Ojha with his traditional left arm spin has shown that if you are willing to flight the ball with enough revolutions put on the ball it can not just spin but the flight it can bamboozle the batsman and get you wickets.
The success of these two players shows that one should never forget the basics as these will ensure that you succeed in any form of cricket
