Mahendra Singh Dhoni is an average wicket-keeper batsman as compared to Adam Gilchrist, Kumar Sangakarra and Adam Devilliers in recent years, and not to mention Alec Stewart and Andy Flower. These cricketers have also been captains and enjoy better batting records.

One of the nut cases. Dhoni as a captain did everything right and won tournaments for India. In every crisis, he was there to save the team and bring the team back to victory.

hehehe...you are comparing dhoni with some of the best batsman in the world....to try and prove dhoni average you have to compare him with the best in the business...that tells how good dhoni is...dhoni is not a specialist batsman but you have to take the help of stats of best specialist batsman with 50 plus or thereabouts average! like gilchrist sanga abd and andy flower...that tells us all that dhoni has to be compared to the best in business to try to be proven inferior...
His cunningness is misunderstood as coolness. He is most political & manipulative cricker in history of indian cricket & survive on luck. His success is glorified but all failures are hided. He is given credit for 2007 T-20 wcup win but no discredit for loosing 3 consecutive t-20 wcup by shameless exit in 1st round in all wcups. He was failure with bat in all t-20 wcups. He plays just 3-4 good inning in ODI/year & secure his place in all formats of game. His overseas test record & t-20 international record both as batsman & captain is pathetic but no blame on him. He is made hero for playing 2 good inning both aginst team like SL in 2011 wcup final & triangular series 2013 but when he scores zero in champion trophy final, failure in all 2011 wcup matches except final, failure in all matches he played in SA/Eng/Aus etc- no one give any discredit to him. Just by playing 2-3 good inning per year against weak opposition, he takes credit foe entire year. What a shame for other cricketers who are much better than him but no political skill like hime. He may fight election from Jharkhand for sure after retirement
Dhoni as a batsman Test Avg over all 39.0, Test avg overseas 28.0, No overseas century or match winning inning in test carrer even after playing 77 test. T-20 Strike rate- 113, No fifty or match winning inning in entire career even after playing 42 matches ODI- Good avg manipulated due to no. of not out innings & manipulative batting position. Even in ODI most runs scored on flat indian wicket against team like Pak/SLK & no overseas century. Dhoni overseas ODI avg is just 39 with no match winning inning in SA/England/Aus/NZL. If you remove his no. of not out innings(52 times), his avg drops less than 35 even in ODI. As a wicketkeeper- Dropped catches in almost every match.
Dhoni test average outside In WI 2006, 24 In SA 2006, 26 In AUS 2007, 17.62 In SA 2011, 35.8 ( one inning of 90 when styen/morkel was kept out of attack for 2-3 hrs) In WI 2011- 19.5 ( score of 0,16,2, 5 & 74(only one good inning when WI was operating with bowlers like bishoo/chandrapaul & front line bowler rampaul/shammi etc was resting due to injury). In Eng 2011- 30.0 In Aus 2012- 20.0 As a captain good record only on indian pitches. Overseas he has lost more test matches(09) than what he won(05) Win includes SLK, Bng, WI & NZL. All other wicketkeeper batsman like Mat prior, Mclumn, Deviller, sangarkara are worldclass & have many match winning overseas inning while mediocre dhoni has none. He is simply made by add agency, media & political fans by hyping his small

He is not a great player in Test. He is a very very good ODI player. No doubt about that. As long as team win he will be credited. Good luck also favors him. You can doom him but he will shine whatever you say. At the end you have to win the matches and he is doing that

very good home work done but all this is nonsense. The only captain to win 3 different icc tournament.for ur knwlge in england south africa.so u need to study deeper....
Not really , he has a team which is performing . Captaincy is tested when the going is tough , When hte oppositon is going great guns during power play or slog overs Dhoni seemed to be lost during that period , he does not know what to do . Sourav was better under such circumstances Harbinder singh
