would have been a better coach. His batting had two strengths - off side driving/cutting and attacking the spinner. But it had too many holes. He basically couldnt play genuine pace and bounce, swing, seam or spin. Non-lethal medium pace and pretend spinners is what he feasted on. his rbw and fielding was atrocious and his team spirit and attitude very negative. Virat is much better in many respects and his play against the bouncing ball has improved.

Here comes another Arm Chair commentator. Have you ever played even Gali Ka Cricket? So, Ganguly's feat at England and South Africa were against mediocre bowling? Team Spirit - Negative? Ha Ha Ha. He is person who united Team India after Match Fix Scandal, gave boost to youngsters and brought back glory days to Indian Cricket. Don't just post something for the heck of it. Post something meaningful.

even he lost count of how many catches he dropped, bhajji could field better than ganguly. lakhsman stil cant forget how many times he ran him out. every short pitch bowler wanted to bowl to ganguly. loved his sweet cover drives and lofts of spinner. cricket is always bigger than individual players.

ganguly was one of the dumb guys around. he couldnt field he running b/w wickets was disaster. he couldnt play short ball wel. but he brought agression into indian team which was never there. ganguly also had good players at his disposal dravid, sachin, kumble, zaheer, lakshman, sehwag all would be counted as some of the best to play indian cricket.

So, why were we failing before he stepped in. Have some brains? A good captain does not to run between the wickets but use his strategy appropriately, motivate team, and have a sixth sense. Ganguly definitely possessed those. Don't write just for the sake of writing something.

he sure was good player of spin and medium packers and what he really brought with him is that fighting attitude. india never saw aggressive players like yuvraj, sehwag, bhajji he brought them all into pace. he stil cant look eye to eye with sachin, dravid or even kumble. he ran out lakshman number of times. he was sure good but lets not over rate him for what he is not.
