Quality of players

These first class matches are supposed to produce test & ODI players, but looking at the quality of batting & bowling; most Ranji matches look like a club matches!!!
No new player indentified....what a waste of opportunities by young players.

how to pick a team
by veerapuram dharan on Jan 28, 2013 08:28 PM  | Hide replies

gone are the days when our super stars like gavaskar, srikkanth, kapil, vengsarkar, jimmy amarnath, azhar, shastri of the 80s and dada, dravid, sachin and sehwag used to fit into both tests and ODI formats straightaway. the same cannot be said of present day cricketers. dhoni and jadeja especially dont fit into the test match scheme of things simply because they lack technique. virat and pujara have the technique to survive both the formats. it would be prudent if dhoni is confined to ODI and T20s alone instead of throwing into the ocean called test match. when gavaskar plays a defensive shot, you can find an attacking instinct in it. such was his audacity. even srikkanth and sehwag were not test match materials, but their pyrotechnics always helped them.

as for 2015 WC, the selectors should provide what ever dhoni asks for since he has an excellent knowledge of the format.

and players like jadeja should never aspire for test matches.

what about Yuvraj Singh who is proving that he will play only one big inning in 20 ODI or T20 matches?

He has got a consistent avg 26 in t20 and first class indicating a good bowler. he can move the ball both ways. has performed consistently for the past 3 ranjis, his avg across all 3 formats is better than b kumar, speed is the same.

Dhaval for Tests? are you mad? Aussies will shut this bowler in no time. Let him play only domestic no internationals please. We already have Vinaykumar, Mithun, Unadkat, Yadav, Aaron, Gony, Balaji, Dinda in the Que and Dhaval will be 12th Bowler like 12th player in the team.

Praveen Kumar has been burnt out by consistant bowling as the opening bowler for India.Zaheer Khan with his injuries is not a certainty.Dhawal Kulkarni should be selected in the playing eleven for India, his combined opening partner Bhuvaneshwar Kumar will become a deadly opening bowlers for India. Will Dhoni call any of the Mumbai player in the playing eleven?

are we playing against Australia or Himachal Pradesh? Indian duo can not be called deadly under any circumstances. India had only Zaheer Khan, J Srinath and I Pathan (during early days) who could be called somewhat deadly in a few occasions. All rest are passenger trains

by deepak on Jan 28, 2013 11:09 AM

The main thing is after getting call you get injured and get out of picture likewise now a days earning a national call is not difficult but
