u know..why select pujara for the national squad when ur not gonna let him play a single game, not even the dead rubber at dharamshala...the least bcci could've done is released him to play for his ranji team (already had two double hundreds this season)

Tendulker,Gavasker,Vijay Manjrekar,Dilip Sardesai,Vengsarker,Sandip Patil,Ajit Wadekar,Subhash Gupte,Vijay Merchant,Solkar,Ramakant Desai.......the list is unending.40 times Ranji champs.Mumbai batsmen are the best technically.Unfortunately Mumbai has not produced great batsmen after Tendulker due to which India is struggling as other batsmen do not have the technique to play fast bowling.Mumbai has defeated teams like Australia and England in the pastI am very such the next legend of Indian cricket will be from Mumbai.

fyi, rahane was selected here, we all know how he got out each innings..terrible dismissals, good thing he was put out and rohit brought in (even after a string of single digit odi scores behind him)

TENDULKAR ALSO HOLDS THE REOCRD FOR MOST TEST DEFEATS EVER IN HISTORY WHENEVER HE HAS PLAYED FOR INDIA.

THIS MARATHAS WERE HIDING IN THE CAVES WHEN MAUGHAL ATTACHED INDIAS.

SO DONT TEACH US THE FUNNY LESSONS ABOUT MARATHAS.

Mumbai win
by Harish Pandit on Jan 29, 2013 08:41 AM  | Hide replies

Form is temporary, Class is permanent.

If Saurashtra was missing Pujara and Jadeja, then Mumbai was missing Rohit,Rahane and Zaheer. At Ranji level, Rohit is as good or even better than Pujara.

Jaffer was dropped to quickly in favour of Gambhir at test level. He had the temperament bust was pushed to sidelines quickly. It is also because of cuties like Yuvraj, Jadeja and Ashwin that a guy like Dhawal Kulkarni is ignored.

Again. Class is permanent.

will agree on many counts - many Mumbai players also failed in test level and got too many chances . Pity is we all talk as regional teams and not Indian team ofcourse it is BCCI team .

I am not sure why people suddenly become patriotic and nationlist and change the parameters and mood of a discussion.

Here is my view.
Mumbai Vs anybody, i root for Mumbai. West Zone vs anybody i root for West Zone. India vs anybody, i root for India. The priorities and passion are clear.

I understand the reason for global good etc etc. This is sport and to be enjoyed at every level.

As for Mumbai players, there have been many who did not get to or succeed at International level. But they were great at National level and that does not take anything away. Amol Mumuzdar, Ashok Mankad, Rahul Mankad, Padmakar shivalkar, the list is on.

Quality of players
by Rick Shaw on Jan 29, 2013 05:10 AM

These first class matches are supposed to produce test & ODI players, but looking at the quality of batting & bowling; most Ranji matches look like a club matches!!!
No new player indentified....what a waste of opportunities by young players.

you have to be magnanimous in victory, and give credit where it is due.Not to say Mumbai would have lost had Pujara played, but bashing saikumar for his remarks just doesnt help Mumbai's cause either

HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAH.... if rohit and rahahe would have played mumbai would have lost with this second string sauhrashtra side.
