It is really surprising that he read the pitch wrong. Actually everybody thought Dhoni chose to bat because as per the pitch report and the experts ..virtually everybody were saying it was a good pitch to bat on and was expected to take turn later as it dried up.The pitch behaved exactly in the fashion it was predicted to and at the end he looked happy with the pitch.Similarly he was critical of the new rules of four fielders limiting outside the circle. But Dhoni more than any body else has maximum benefited from the new rule the way he has been amassing runs in the death overs.Any way all is well that ends well.

in 2 innings at no. 3 in tests he made 105 runs 68 not out and 37 runs...
The main thing Dhoni needs to do is preserve Bhuvaneshwar - the Jewel in the Crown. PL don't make him bowl ten overs at a stretch any more. He could burn out like all the others before him.
Dear MSD, If your reading was that track will help batsman in the second half then why you choose to bat in bad conditions. Are you playing for India or England

He knew that chasing a big total again mean he has to bat for long in the second inning with lot of pressure. He wanted his players to play free and fortunately a few of them clicked. It is time to give Pujara a look than gamble with Gambhir.

very true.. also any pitch which gets drier, is bound to help the spinners more and thats what happened here too.. so what was he thinking when he made all these comments? Seems very strange to me too....
