Gambhir has all the qualities to replace Dhoni. Traits are quite similar.
1. Speaks irrelevantly (when the whole India is criticizing the batsmen for collapses, he says that we should not blame the bowlers).
2. Cheat (fakes an injury to escape from the England ODI series in 2011 and plays CLT20)
3. Egoistic (self explanatory)
4. Immature (says nobody should be blamed since all are responsible for the result, even after so many humiliating losses)
5. Politician (always says something opposite of what the captain says)

Only drawback is that, he is not an opportunistic guy like Dhoni. He does not have the authority to drop down the order when the pitch is creating problems to bat.

LOLZ, agree. That is one disease which both Kohli & Gambhir have. There are very few batsmen who (I feel) are not having this foot-in-the-mouth symptoms even after many years of playing for India, ie: Sachin/Dravid/Laxman/Dhoni/Raina (until recently when he spoke so much abt whitewash, etc)/Irfan Pathan.

Others in the name of so called aggression have spoken nonsense without provocation.

Media hype puts pressure on cricketers
by sudhir ponnala on Jan 15, 2013 06:51 AM  | Hide replies

The media gets carried away whenever a cricket team is visiting India. A balanced analysis and suggestions are fine, but they shouldn't overdo it. And when we win, the media shouldn't go overboard and praise the team to the skies!

Agree. In a game there will be a winner and a loser. If we lose let us analyse why we lost.Sometime back Dhoni and Kholi were on the cover pages of all magazines. But now Kholi is having a poor run.We get highly emotional with a win or a loss.

India is a country of extremes.

Let it be sports, education, research, finance, governance...you name it.

Thats how we indians are brought up, like a horse race constantly being whipped to lead ahead of the pack at any time.

Thats why irrespective of a win or a loss the fans are always stressed up. Sad part is they don't even realize it many a times.

Till Dhoni acted in Alcohol ads, he was Captain Cool! After taking up the ad, it has gone into his head and the results are to be seen! Just see when the decline started! Dhoni does not care about ethics or the younger generation who blindly follow their idols. He has to go!

Everybody is a manager in India
by Ravi on Jan 15, 2013 06:07 AM  | Hide replies

Including the immatured Indian cricket fans. We are just a bunch of cry babies who don't know how to treat our sporting icons and rolde models.

Whenever the Japan soccer team looses the japanese fans blame themselves before the national players. Fans feel that their support couldn't help motivate the players to win on a particular day. When the Japan team wins all the fans buy beers and alcohols for the national team to celebrate with them.

But never have I ever seen fans blaming the players...I mean NEVER.

Being an Indian I can never imagine this attitude from our cricket fans though. Indian cricket fans are sore loosers anyday. At times even the elite ex cricketers join the rant. I guess it takes a lot of maturity in first place to understand a sport, forget the players.

by kiran kumar on Jan 14, 2013 11:07 PM

dhoni is not responsible, only remaining others are.
india loses: ask dhoni, he says bowlers failed or batsmen failed
india wins: ask dhoni, he says, my decisions helped the win

Gambhir absurds

Gautham Gambhir should know that as opener of India he has to give good start other than sitting and assessing others. We are in difficulty because he has not settled down even after getting enough opportunities and overs. It is high time somebody else is blooded in to the team.

That's really a loose statement. Such statement sounds good to improve team spirit.

But when team is loosing consistently, more indepth approach required and each individual's contribution gets analyzed. And here, Gambhir is one of the biggest culprit on and off the field..
