I fully agree with you. I feel sad about the fate that his great career met with. A very stylish batsman, a great fielder and a very shrewd captain.
I am glad someone spoke about him. Have a great day.

How everything in rediff ends with Hindu-Muslim, south India-North India, Marathi-Hindi, uppercast lower cast, sachin vs dhoni, etc

Ya,now Mohd Fixeruddin is an MP so he can fix Parliament also.Scapegoat??He broke down during interrogation when confronted with the evidence. He is just plain lucky this is India, and the BCCI hushed up the matter and didnt make the evidence public, else the outcry would have made life difficult for Fixeruddin and Jadeja.Stylish is all cool, but honesty comes first then comes style and talent.

wat abt a case where forign currencies worth crores was found in a cricketers bank locker!!!!!!heheheheehehe
With the truth revealed by Gibbs and Williams, it is now clear that there was no truth in the match fixing episode as all who were charged earlier have got clean chit.
Now it is a shock to learn the truth that the two major witnesses lied against Hansie. Even though Mohammed Azharuddin has been now cleared of all the allegations, it still leaves a question that was he just a victim? This talented cricketer was left stranded at 99 test matches and still had a couple of years' cricket left in him.
I am very disappointed to see the sad end to a great career of Mohammed Azharuddin.
The match hansie captined are video tutorials for captin. Many captin won many trophy, but this guy was genius as captin. No one seem more in control then him.
Not forgiving for such crimes is must but it create maximum pain in his case.
He was a an exceptional cricketer with all round cricketing abilities. Dependable finisher when chasing, marshalled his field and bowlers well while defending. Also lead from the front with significant breakthroughs with his incisive medium pace. He stood out as an inspirational leader. Hansie Cronje's South Africans were perhaps the only team that Steve Waughs Australians would have feared at the time. Though as of today no one fears Clarks Australians. But this man made contact with the wrong people occassionally, who influenced hime to indulge in a corrupt thing like match fixing. But thos who suggets that he was a cheater all his life and gave no contribution to Cricket, please it's not true. He cheated occcasionally and got caught then. May his soul rest in peace. and shame on Williams and Gibbs for not owning up honestly to their involvement in the crime. I still remeber his words during hs admission "Gibbs and co are a talented and promising bunch oof cricketers for South Africa and it wold be unfortunate if their careers cut short". He was a well wisher for the Game of cricket and especially South Africa at the end.

I remember Gibbs was once afraid to come to India because the Indian cops were waiting to interrogate him regarding match fixing. Dont know how this issue was later hushed by intellectuals!

@ Prakash - whatever Matte Matte has said is correct. Gibbs skipped some series in India as he was under fear that the Indian Police will catch him.
