UNLESS BATTING CLICKS ENGLISH ONE DAYERS AS GOOD AS LOST
by damodaran mohan on Jan 08, 2013 04:16 PM  | Hide replies

Initially when the mini Pak tour was planned many that it would put unnecessary extra burden on the players in the midst of the English Home series. However it must be admitted that it was very useful series for India in self assessment and now Indians are much better prepared to face the English than they were at the end of first phase of the Eng series. Batting of course still remains biggest worry but there appears to be a shimmer of hope in Bowling and fielding. The young legs diving and saving 20 odd runs at Kotla in fact was main reason why India could defend the small total. So, the remarkable improvement in fielding is really heartening indeed and will be a big plus for facing the English. Next the bowling, especially the pace attack of two debutants and Ishant Sharma also suddenly finding his form in the last two matches gives a new dimension to the Indian pace attack. Spinners are not doing badly but it is not enough and they will have to add more ‘bite’ for sure to be effective. One more area of concern is Dhoni’s decisions which are more instinctive than considered decisions. Example; At Eden garden dhoni should have batted first and even with a low total of 200 plus India’sa chances of winning were 50-50 as Pakistanis are worst chasers.(Also, the wicket at Eden gardens slows down and KKR have suffered while chasing. Besides, India batting had crashed at Chennai and were low on confidence in chasing). Further, Dhoni should bat at no.4 an

(CONTD...)..Dhoni should bat at no.4 and avoid batting collapse.Unless batting comes good the English One dayers series is as good as lost.

congrats

congrats to India very close encounter to beat Pakistan.it is great joy when india fights back a low scoring game.it is sign of champion.the bowling and fielding department did very well.looking like a sa or australian team.selection of poojara against england is a sign india have many hitters at the end just need some good solid players at the beginning who can rotate strike and give other hitters apportunity to score.both the matches india lost was dhoni finding partners at the other end and pakistan won because of Jamshed on crease.surely if bowlers are using good skills and batsman bringing energy match against England would be great to watch.congrats to India.

Repaying India
by vilas apte on Jan 07, 2013 06:02 PM

I don't know, but seeing yesterday's match one got the impression that the Pakistan batsmen, specially Misbah,Umar Akmal& Umar Gul deliberatly hit wild shots & got out. As Pakistan had already won the series and had an unassailable lead of 2-0, this match was inconsequential, therefore losing it Pakistan was only repaying the hospitality that India had shown them by inviting and playing a pariah of International cricket.
