ODI Team against England

Many non performers are retained! Gambhir, Rohit Sharma, Dinda, Yuvraj to name a few. India needs more all rounders. No dearth of talent. Select the young performers in domestic cricket & try them out, groom them with the long term in view, instead of persiting with non performers.

Sehwag should never been in the ODI to begin with.. and that Selfish arrogant Gambhir needs to go along with Rohit..

Jadeja shouldn't be in the team either but Raina is top class for the limited overs cricket. Just go look at his stats game by game and keep in mind that he comes down the order without any luxury of having enough time to settle and plan the inning.. Spare Raina atleast

Sehwag has played 251 ODI with 35 runs average at the strike rate of run a ball with 15 centuries and he is opener too where he has chance to forge his inning and score as much as he wants. Still, only 15 centuries with 35 average.. Of lately, he is way too inconsistent and failing more often then not

And he is poor fielder and a poor runner between the wicket.. And he is going to be 35 yrs old soon..
Obviously dropping Sehwag is justified

If Sehwag was dropped
by on on Jan 06, 2013 09:44 PM  | Hide replies

Why Gambhir is retined for England ODI? Dropping Sehwag was a good move and Gambhir should have been dropped too.

Team like Aus, Eng or SA would have dropped Gambhir long time ago, just because of his arrogant, selfish attitude. Forget his performance, whi is nothing to write about anyway..

Also, why retain Rohit? And where will Pujara bat?

Our selectors are classic bunch of....

Surprising only Sehwag had to be dropped
by vicky on Jan 06, 2013 09:18 PM  | Hide replies

Right decision to drop Sehwag, as he was in an aweful form. But I am baffled with the selection of Rohit and Jadeja. Its shocking to know that selectors cant find players better than these two, despite their failures upteem number of times. Why cant they look to people like Ambati Rayudu, if they have to make a team for future? Very sad and pity!

really it is sad news on Kapildev happy birthday? Kapil Dev Ramlal Nikhanj(born 6 January 1959, Chandigarh Punjab, India), better known as Kapil Dev, is a former Indian cricketer. He captained the Indian cricket team which won the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Named by Wisden as the Indian Cricketer of the Century in 2002, Kapil Dev was also India's national cricket coach for 10 months between October 1999 and August 2000.He is the only player in the history of cricket to have taken more than 400 wickets and scored more than 5,000 runs in Tests, making him one of the greatest all-rounder to have played the game. On 8 March 2010, Kapil Dev was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame

Kapil was a right-arm pace bowler noted for his graceful action and potent outswinger.Kapil made his Test cricket debut in Faisalabad, Pakistan on 16 October 1978. When Australia finished the fourth day at 18/3, Kapil willed himself to play the final day with pain-killing injections and removed the dangerous Australia middle order. Kapil won the match for India with the innings bowling performance of 16.4–4–28–5, a bowling performance that figures in his five best bowling performance. During the Australian 1981 tour, he scored his first fifty in ODIs against New Zealand at Brisbane. Somehow India's Test cricket sensation was unable to adjust to ODI cricket and had a career start of 278 runs (Average: 17.38) and 17 wickets after 16 ODI matches. his 55 ball 89 runs knock@LONDON test

Kapil Dev along with other philanthropists started an NGO named KHUSHII(Kinship for Humanitarian Social and Holistic Intervention) in 2005 and heads it as Chairman at present. KHUSHII runs three schools for the less privileged in Delhi and provides education, mid-day meals and clothing to them. In the past, KHUSHII has worked in Neemrana district covering 97 villages and running programmes like family planning, health camps etc.and also started the first Telemedicine hospital there. Khushii has widened its intervention activities. Working towards its vision of transforming lives globally, Khushii has launched- "World Action Forum" – an umbrella charitable body which supports competent NGOs to further mutually beneficial outreach programs under controlled quality management and complete transparency. It would be a body that collectively works towards global rehabilitation. All the organisations joining WAF will be able to learn and jointly raise funds creating a body rich in expertise and finance to enable and sustain our endeavor towards welfare of the less privileged round the globe.Kapil Dev is actively involved in supporting the needy through his NGO KHUSHII with its office in New Delhi.

Gambhir and Rohit should have been dropped and Manoj Tiwari and Shikhar Dhavan should have been in the squad. Ravindra Jadeja retains his place due to on paper a good all rounder.

What Rohit and gauty have done to retain their places????
by K Ram on Jan 06, 2013 09:13 PM  | Hide replies

Gauty, Rohit, to some extent, Ashwin do not deserve a place in the team. `wonder, why the selectors can not look beyond ever failing Rohit? Ghambir also has lost his shelf life. For all his experience, he must don the role of match winner by now and not be content with a mere 20, 30 runs to keep his place safe. M.Vijay and A.Mukund sure deserve a look in. When Rohit gets these many chances, why not a few chances to them too? Kohli, Raina, Yuvi, Ashwin, Ishant, Rahane all need to be given a stern warning not to take their places for granted and to either perform or perish. The induction of new selection committee hasn't made any change to the system or policies and they too venture in the usual `play safe' track.

Pujara is badly needed in Indian
by wcpak on Jan 06, 2013 09:07 PM

ODI team after Dravid's retirement. You need at least one player who can play a quiet innings. However, there doesn't seem to be one more opener in the team. Now,Gambhir's job is on the line,he should shut his loud mouth and make his bat do the talking.
