The main turning point was the pitch which turned, bounced, dust flew around - tailor made for our spinners. Our spinners of the past (I especially think of Padmakar Shivalkar who played for Bombay in Ranji Trophy and West Zone in Duleep trophy, but unlucky not to play for India because of Bedi's presence) could have bowled out even the Indian batting line for less than 200 on this clay court! So, the biggest turning point was the turning pitch which allowed Dhoni not to use his pacers at all in the second innings! A tailor made wicket for India. Indians are champions when the ball comes below knee level!

yes you are correct.. bowling means fast ..fact we cant handle fast ..spin is magic infront of a kid. spin is a joke of cricket. i hate spin.. anyway cricket is business.. let them make money ..

Both pace anmd spin have their place in the game. Ideally all wickets should be fair to pace/spin and bowlers/batsmen. When we go to Aus/NZ/WI/Eng/SA it is heavily loaded in their favour. It is no fun watching only 4 pacers bowl with no variety. When they come to the subcontinent they get such pitches. All is fair in love and war.

If u go to australia, their pitches are all traditional, not made as per opponents. Adelaide = suit for spinners. perth = suit for fast bowlers, Melbourne = suit for seam bowlers. Sydney = suit for seam bowlers spinners. Hobart = some help for spinners too. So it is even and every team who comes and play need not worry about the pitch as they know what is going to come. But in India, it is made everytime depending on opposition. Will india prepare these kind of pitches when SL comes and play (with murali in team). No way. Anyway let them win happily 4-0 and be ready to lose to SAF and ENG away tour (which is coming next) 4-0 again.

i agree. v hv to b ready to b whitewashed in overseas tour. nonetheless, eventhough v won firs test (like against eng), ausis can still beat us in 3 test like eng did against us winnng 2 matches.

This wasn't an underprepared turner with uneven bounce. The bounce was even and high. Patterson bowled bouncers at will and got 5 wickets. What it showed was that our pacers were substandard. Their spinner was also substandard. And there were many big innings Clarke, Moises, Kohli, Tendu but Dhoni's was biggest. Sehwag and Vijay failed both innings, many on Aus side. So who ever applied himself got runs. And vs Eng Cook was a huge obstacle, almost singlehandedly gave Panesar-Swan-Anderson the runs to bowl. From now on it depends on Indian batting.

To be fair to Sachin in both innings he came in when both openers failed early. But he didn't get to a hundred which Kohli did and Dhoni's double was amazing. He has played well so far and hopefully should continue throughout the series. And then he should retire when people ask why and before they say why not. He has done very well for the past so many years and we should not see any kind of humiliation either off or on the field.

If you compare the adulation that Pujara is getting for a measly 44, then Tendu definitely deserves mention. But Dhoni and to an extent Kohli, Moses and Clarke were a different level of performance.
