He said Sehwag was unfortunate to get out in the first innings. "This wicket, there was not much pace. First innings, he was unfortunate because he middle the ball, yet it came back and fell on the stump. In the second innings, there was not much pace for him to play freely," Dhoni said at the press-conference after India beat Australia by eight wickets in the first Test.
The Indian captain also made it clear that Murali Vijay, who scored 10 and six in the two innings, will continue at the opening slot.
"If you look at just the statistics of opening batsmen you may say that he (Vijay) is not good enough. But at the same time you need to give them a fair amount of time.
"Let's hope for the best. Vijay has played this game, let's continue with him and give him some time and the comfort of saying that he's wanted over here," Dhoni said.

hahahah. good idea. in fact, bhuvi (!!! new cricketng jargon for bhuvaneshkumar like yuvi) played better batsman.
How much more time to be given? He has already become bald and should he be given time till he becomes totally bald. Awful footwork and lacks the basics as age is catching up with his mobility.

Dhoni himself was given all the time as captain, keeper and batsman, though he did not play well in Tests in the last many years and certainly outside the subcontinent. But he has played a special innings to revive his career. Sehwag has played many match-winning innings under all conditions. Now that the middle order has given good performance, Sehwag will play more confidently and that will solve a lot of problems.

Jay u seems do not have any brains ..just talking BS , If batsman is playinf at number what u expect from him ,,, to be match winner or scor 100 at that posiition ..he is still leading run maker in test cricket as skipper

When India became no.1 in Tests, Sehwag's role was as important as Dravid, Tendulkar, Laxman and Kumble. He has scored high centuries (above 150) regularly. You may have been seeing only IPL and may not understand Test cricket.

I agree with Nagraj. Dhoni and selection committee is going to waste futture of good players like Rahane and Dhawan. Drop Sehwag. He had his peak and is now on steep downslope where he can not pcik up form. His focus is not on cricket....

if the selection should be purely based on performance , that sachin tendulkar should be out based on his failure vs New Zealand and England but he is still there playing. No player should be greater than the country.

sachin also should have been replaced after the failure in england and new zealand matches. With is eighty, another 5 series he will be allowed to play.
